yea I dont know how mechanical you are but I'd drop by and take a look before you drop the coin.

I've worked on vehicles my whole life and I am going to take a look tomorrow. They said I can drive it the way it is but they would recommend doing it right. And once you damage a carrier, it will make noise. I've learned that from experience in a few of my brothers past vehicles

If the splines where the axle go in are damaged but can be cleaned up and axles can be inserted I'd say run it. If the ring and pinion gear are damaged it will most likely whine depending on where the damage is on the teeth. But most the time a whining rear end is caused by improper backlash and not enough or too much gear engagement.

Yes. Take it apart and clean any metal shavings that might be there, reassemble and run it. Something on / in the locker would have to show mechanical damage (splines, locker internals, etc.) before I would say the locker is trashed.

I did not get the chance to make it by there and check out the carrier.

yea like trey said i got really lucky and was able to swap out the axles at the ranch had a huge magnet cleaned and flushed the rear diff out pulled everything out fo the diff and checked it the gears were fine and so was the other axle so i put it all back in put fresh fluid in it and had no issues locking it or anything. but i knew right away when it happend that i snapped the axle so i stopped right there and waited for a tow to keep the damage to a minimum if possible and still no issues with the rear end today.
