Now, for the dimmer controlled install:
After making your initial connection (behind the glove compartment) and now having a switch controlled wire to the engine compartment, we will begin by accessing the high beam circuit for our relay trigger wire.
CAREFULLY, remove your right (passenger side) headlamp.
We will locate the yellow wire at the headlamp connector and make a Y-splice using the splicing techniques above. Use enough wire to reach the area where the pass thru ends are. After making your splice, route the wire up through the fender behind the headlight and near the inner fender. Leave yourself plenty of wire to work with.
Re-install your headlamp. Now there are two of the necessary 4 wires at the point of installing the relay. Here is a diagram that should help you understand what to connect.
I am going to use a pigtail connector kit that will make the relay installation cleaner than just female spade connectors. The part number for the pigtail kit is WPT-802.
Find a suitable location for the relay, make sure your wiring is long enough to reach the relay, and make the connections as shown in the do-it-yourselfer "map" above. Your fog lamps will now work as we described earlier in the thread.
NOTE: You will notice that in the "map", the 87a terminal is not connected to anything. This is done to open our circuit to the fog lamps when the relay is triggered by the high beam circuit. You may want to cover that terminal with a plastic coated female spade if you are using spade connectors as opposed to the pigtail kit so it is not exposed.
There you have it! Hope it is useful.
