6.2 Headers.

I am thinking of going with headers sometime soon, just want to get some pros/cons from people between shorty headers and long tube that actually have used both or either or. Keeping in mind I want to keep my stock cats.

Can only use stock cats with shorty headers. I have used shorty on all my previous F150s. I had LTs on my last Raptor was not very happy with them. To noisy for long road trips. We cant seem to get a high enough interest for a company to make shorty's. I have flanges to make my own I just have been not motivated enough to make them so far. I hope to get tehm made this year but I aint making any promises.

Yeah, you won't find anyone that has the shorties because of lack of demand. Although the shorties would possibly allow for keeping the factory cats, the installation would more than likely be close to the same length in labor hours, etc. The only real savings if they were available would be being able to utilize the stock cats.

I will be picking up my Raptor later today, missing it since Friday, getting some Kooks LT headers with Hi-Flow Cats Y-Pipe from kooks also.
Will post later on the perfornance gain and how it sounds.

We can build shorty headers but as everyone said there is not enough demand, labor would be the same as installing long tubes and not much benefit. Keep in mind that headers are the best way to make power unless upgrading to the really expensive in comparison supercharger setups.

I want to run your long tube headers on my 6.2 but Im seeing people say that they can heat up the trans, making it run hotter and to have a heat shield made? is this true? not trying to burn anything here on my truck. (been there, done that)

Some states require u to run cats.

A heat shield could be easily fabbed. I looked into it a bit but I don't really think it's necessary for me either but I guess in the hotter areas or during heavy towing it could be an issue
