It's normal and cannot be prevented. I had mine wrapped in xpel along with the rest of the front end.

I'll probably take some measurements and make a matte black decal to go onto them......I think it would look better in matte.
After all I do own a graphics business! Been working on decals for the bed too, just been to darn busy to get to it.....

Those are called B pillars and yes, pretty much every truck will have scratches there. XPEL makes a kit for $70 to cover them up and protect them.

Tape, sticker, gloss vinyl with adhesive on the back, however you want to say it. Its not paint. Lots of vehicles are like that on the doors.

More like highly polished plastic hence the spider scratches all over it. Stickers...I think not.

You can polish them but will get scratches on them again easily. Best solution would be to polish them and immediately have someone cover them with xpel or other PPF.

So I went and looked at the parts sites- that is a separate "applique" as they call it on the 15+ trucks, so yes, probably plastic. A lot of Fords have the black tape though. Just look at various cars in parking lots- you'll see what I'm talking about. It's not just Ford either...

Yup, my B Pillars were all scratched up from the factory/dealership. I picked up my truck 3 hours after it was delivered from Dearborn and specifically made the dealer not wash the truck for this reason (they thought I was crazy). The B Pillars were still scratched up and a 1/4" door ding was also installed on the rear passenger door somewhere along the production and delivery line.

All good though, I'll just need to add a few rock chips to balance the door ding so it's not a complete mall queen.

Mine were polished, then ceramic coated with the rest of the truck. It's really impressive stuff. They look brand new.
