You bought a used Gen 2 and claimed you traded in your Gen 1 that “had issues”. Doesn’t match your story.
Rear axle is the same between both generations. When you buy used you assume the risk of how it was treated before you bought it. I bought my ‘19 new and haven’t had a single issue besides a loose stabilizer bar link.
Gen 2 had less than 7k miles when purchased. My first Gen 1 didn't have any issues besides rear carrier bearing/diff whine towards the end, it was my fault from working on it a couple weeks prior and not manufacturer. Otherwise, correct, zero issues from what I recall. I was in the process of buying a Gen 2 anyway, didn't want to be down a vehicle, so I traded it and took a slight hit on trade in for the rear diff on Gen 1.
Now my existing Gen 1, which is my second Gen 1 and 3rd Raptor, no issues at all. I'm not sure why you're becoming a bit hostile in your replies based on other comments. It's pure personal preference. I prefer to daily drive something that doesn't require a million electrical components, sensors, computers, etc. I feel it's pretty basic logic to assume more features and safety in newer vehicles allows for more variables to go wrong, equating to more downtime.
