Since nobody "needs" a Raptor, doesn't it make sense that price dictates which version a used Raptor buyer is looking at? If you're looking at financing a used one, then your discretionary income determines if you even have "Gen 1 money" or not. It would be interesting to know if most buyers have previously driven a Raptor or if they just said "F' it, I want one", then went looking based on the price. Now that statistics show new truck buyers are routinely committing to $1000/mo payments maybe potential buyers started considering used Raptors instead. Would you rather tell your coworkers "that's my new Platinum over there, next to all the other generic trucks"...., or tell them "I got a Raptor... it's hard to miss"?
Do you think they’d even know the difference?

Raptors do get noticed and there is a stigma with them, no doubt. However, I think Ford has cheapen the name a lot with the introduction of the Bronco, Ranger and now Maverick Raptor. A Platinum F150 has more features in them than a Raptor.

WTF stigma are you talking about? Not woke enough?
doesn’t cater to the same community as the Forester?

How many first-time used Corvette buyers really cared which model they were getting? Or BMW? They're aren't looking beyond the price tag, mostly they look for scratches and dents. Even the photographer services that contract with ebay motors don't look under a car, but they  will charge you to take 200 pictures of the seats & the paintjob. Most of the BaT auction listings do the same thing. People like this are their own worst enemy. Typically, someone who doesn't own a truck that is shopping for a used Gen 1 Raptor will be sold on it as soon as they listen to that gnarly V8. They aren't looking for a V6 or the latest "features", they just want a large, loud, nasty looking beast that everyone recognizes and nobody ignores.

I was talking about people are generally impressed or take notice of them. They are a look at me TRUCK. A HALO product like Ford has the Shelby and Raptor, Subaru had the STI, GTR with Nissan, Honda Type R, etc. etc. I never said that they catered to the same community as a Forrester. I have owned a Gen 1 Raptor and a Gen 2 Raptor. You have been here constantly, I may come back to a Raptor but they are going to have to redesign it to the Gen 4 and I imagine by then it will be a Raptor Lightning which they are working on.

Where are you coming up with this nonsense? Sure, some people are upgrading to G3, but nobody in their right mind would downgrade to a G1, and there’s no evidence that is happening.
I was just thinking the exact same thing! Why would I trade in my awesome '20 that I love, and have had since I ordered it new, on a used Gen 1? That makes ZERO sense, and I can count on no fingers how many people I have seen do that.

To the unsuspecting, I would agree.
