Has Ford corrected the Cam Phaser rattle in Gen3?

I had all the TSB's done on my 2018 when they replaced them about a year ago. Was supposed to have all the updated parts. Started making noise and it's under the knife. Not too happy considering I'm headed to Baja in 3 days

If yours was repaired already and failed again it's always blamed on poor work by the repair tech.

Like Nex said…it’s been resolved in production for over 3 years. Way before Gen 3 launched.

When did you have your 2017 repaired? Did you have FSA 21B10 completed?

As far as $8k…that’s not even in the ballpark. It’s a few hundred in parts and 10 hours labor.

What do you charge per hr for labor? $125?

If you are offering new cam phaser installation services for $400 in parts + $1250 for labor I think you would have a lot of out-of-warranty Raptor owners taking you up on that.

It's been in the $3500 to $4000 range for people paying out of pocket that I've seen on this forum.

Ford got back to my service tech and they are willing to pay $1400 towards the repair. When I asked again what the total would be, they said around $2500 this time. I may take them up on it but also considering buying a used 2022 right now.

$2500…oof! The problem resurfaced after only 15k miles. No guarantee it won’t resurface again. Your truck is saying, “let me go”. If you’re already “considering“ a used 22, you’re halfway there. 15k miles, I dont think thats common but i have personally seen 1 truck have that happen.

My '18 had cam phasers replaced @15k, and 35k, and started the rattle again so I traded her in @ 50k miles for a '20. My '20's were replaced once @60k, it rattled for a good 10k miles before I had it done during which the computer fix was implemented but was already rattling. Finally traded her in @80k miles for my '23. First cam phaser fix took a month, second a week, the last on the '20 took 2 days. Would do it all again if I had to but I'm so glad they finally fixed the problem!

Im curious, did you use start-stop in its factory functionatlity?
