Handling !! R different or not between them

I've been in both. They handle the same. Even a Scab is significantly larger then a Jeep or an FJ so if a Scab can make it on a trail, so can a Screw. A Scab only has a smaller wheelbase when compared to a Screw. Compare it to other off road machines and they laugh at how big the Scab is. It's all in retrospect. I wanted 4 doors. I travel a lot and have a giant family. And none of us are 5'3 120lbs. We are all big. Need the room. I don't feel my Screw is any less capable then a Scab

If my Screw can't get there, I don't need to be there. Since I take it over trails that only jeeps are supposed to be able to handle, I think I am ok. Plus my sons, 6'4, 6'3 and my daughter who is 5'8 all prefer the back seat of the Screw over my wifes Avalon, or my old Super Duty. My youngest son is gone for a couple of years, so he hasn't been able to ride in it, yet.

We breed them big in our neighborhood.

You guys are very sensitive. I never said anything about capability. There are more positives with a SCREW than a SCAB - faster off the line, more room, more comfortable, larger tank, etc... It is also true that a SCAB has a tighter turning radius, which is maneuverability which is in the handling category.

Ease off the triggers, nobody is putting down the SCREW and madcow was joking.

I just came back from HITH. There were some very tight turns and the SCABs were easier to maneuver. It has nothing to do with wanting one to be better, the shorter wheelbase has a smaller turning radius. In a straight line at 70mph, not much difference.

i was there too, the only turn i had to back up to make, was the one even scabs had too. (the switch back on day 1)


scabs do have a tighter turning radius, but it isnt much. i would say its almost negligable between the two.

It's a little over a foot (23.5 vs 22.3 turning radius) difference.

I didn't back up but I did break an axle sooo...

1000% true.

I have a SCAB and have ridden in SCREWs on the same off road courses. The SCAB is much more agile. Having said that, the SCREWs do have a smoother ride because of the longer wheelbase and added weight.

That explains why when I slam on the brakes and turn the wheel I go straight!

My guess would be that with the longer wheelbase you get a little better weight distribution resulting in more traction. I don't know why exactly but they were measured a tad faster 0-60 when they first came out.

NADA states the SuperCrew is 104 lbs. heavier than the SuperCab (6,113 lbs. versus 6,004 lbs., respectively). The turning diameter of the SuperCrew is 2.4 ft wider than the SuperCab (47 ft. versus 44.6 ft., respectively).

According to a Motor Trend article, the SuperCrew's steering ratio was changed to 16:1 from the SuperCab's 20:1 to compensate for the slower turn-in caused by the increased wheelbase. The spring rates (and associated damping rates) were also increased on the SuperCrew as well.
