Sounds like they'd have too much preload on mid perch to perform well, for those that were considering trying it.
Not so sure. Couple of folks on mid perch love the ride. I expect it's all in the eye or in this case hand of the beholder.

Done.
OK, I've got a to say. lol
I remember doing coilovers on a 1/2 ton pick up that took me about an hour to do both sides. This took me three hours. With a lift. Maybe it was just my state of mind when I did it? It seemed like I didn't need to do all I did to get them in and out? At least the 2nd one took me half the time.
I drive my truck like I drove my track car. On dirt which is 50% of my driving I drive it like I drove my RZR-S.
My first impression on the bumpy asphalt streets wasn't a good one. I felt way to much response in the steering wheel where it was just the front end before. So it flattened out the street bumps up front but it all ended up in the steering wheel. The rutted holey dirt roads was a different story. Much better. Still more feedback in the hands than I like but what can you do? Collateral effect.
These are just from an hour and a half ride home, half on and half off road.
The pictures show before and after pictures up near the ass of my plow sander for scale.
Before springs, 40 1/2" from the ground to the fender lip up front and 24 1/4" from mid center cap to the lip.
After springs, 42 1/2" ground to lip and 27" from mid center cap to the lip.
Everything else suspension related is stock. The shocks are at BOTTOM perch before AND after.
I love while in the seat the front end isn't raked down.
It doesn't dive when in a hard brake situation like stock. It does a little but not much to worry about or be disappointed with.
Another note. I'm an **** mo fo. I over analyze everything and shit always has to be 4.0. (spot on perfect)
nuff said for now.
When you lift the front of these trucks they tend to toe in some. If you didnt get the truck aligned afterwards, you might try that. That may get rid of some of the response in the steering wheel.

Don't know man, running that many inches of preload on a progressive spring basically makes it no longer progressive.
Exactly.
VG, No alignment was done. Didn't really see the need considering what was done. I might have it checked next week? I don't think that is what's delivering the feedback into the steering wheel. I'm going out today to play in the mud from the deluge we got last night. Plenty of rough trails to get busy on up here for sure. Will follow up.
Little_D is going on 16,000 miles on mid perch with these progressive spings on a 13 model. I just talked with him yesterday and he is still very pleased with no issues at all. Granted he is not anywhere near 4x4 full time but when he does he has not experienced any problems. I guess time will tell.
