Out of curiosity (because I'm still thinking about getting a trailer someday), what trailer are you looking at?

Didn’t read all the posts to see if someone provided this because I’m being lazy today. Just use the calculator in the link to make sure your being safe.

well crap...... i really appreciate that calculator. but eff me. according to that calculator my truck needs to drive itself. says im 150lbs over capacity. i weigh 150lbs. everything will be empty because our other truck will carry all the rest of the stuff, but damn. 150lbs......

Looking at the specs, it says it has a 7675lb dry weight. Add in the 48 gals of water (basically 400lb), and you're definitely over 8000lb GVWR. And I know you said the other truck will carry all the rest of the stuff, but does that include the propane tanks? 60 gallons of propane weighs ~250 lbs. I'm not sure if the dry weight of the trailer includes the weight of the propane tanks when empty (I would assume it did, but can't be sure, as they're kinda an 'add on' item).

Plus, another thing, with the 775lb tongue weight, plus 250lb of propane (and maybe the weight of the propane tanks), plus whatever the weight of the water is that's transferred to the tongue once the tank is full...you're looking at a pretty heavy tongue weight (at least 1000lb) at that point. Just another thing to keep in mind.

All that being said, it does look like a nice trailer! haha :rolleyes:

I would think that it would take a pretty serious accident to have an accident attorney pay for having the actual weight of the truck, trailer and cargo verified. Odds are in a serious accident the trailer will explode and the cargo would launch making weigh verification difficult.

on the inside of this particular trailer it says 7450. i have to guess that its including the battery and propane. we wont travel with water. we will fill up in fallon nevada (our camping trip) and drive the 10miles at 25-35mph (city limits) until we get to dirt which i have to drive at about 3-5 mph due to washboard dirt road. but thats a good idea, i could take the propane tanks off and one of the batteries to reduce weight. can put it all in the other truck. we have room since she is towing the trailer with quads

yes, but i want to be safe first and formost, and also, dont want any reason to give any attorney a doubt if for some reason i cause a wreck

Hadn't come across this calc before either. My 17 Limited with the 6750 gvwr package allows me 151 pounds of anything else if i'm hauling my family with me. This is a great tool and also helps me verify that when I recently went on a trip and had us, a full cooler, and a partial load of wood in the bed that I believed the truck felt a bit too weighed down while hauling my 22 salem cruise lite 263bhxl. Also helps me verify that I do need to get the Roadmaster Active Suspension in addition to the Safe Weigh WDH I have, since I'm so close to being at the limit with just my family.

ah ha! i redid the calculator because i added hitch weight to cargo capacity when it specifically said to not add hitch weight. i got 25lbs to spare according to the calculator
