Hey everyone,

TLDR: TSB did not fix my window rattling. Foam tube they used was causing stress on the window when trying to open and close it. Removed the foam tube installed as per TSB instructions, added in 1/2 inch wide and 1/16 inch thick foam along full length of top guide rail between guide and guide housing and in two locations along bottom guide rail between guide and guide housing. See pictures below for details.

So TSB 22-2349 was released a while ago for the rear window rattling when playing music and I like many others went in and got it "fixed". Well after the fix, the rattle persisted and the dealer said there was nothing they could do about it and basically told me to **** off. After hearing the rattling when I turned up the volume when a good song came on with decent bass, I got fed up and decided to do my own deep dive to fix it permanently.

First looking at the TSB, they want the window heating wires to be wrapped in felt tape and I agree, this is a good move and can only help. The next thing they wanted to do was shove a foam tube up in between the housing and the window slide guide. This part I did not like. The size of the foam tube that they used to "fix" my issue was quite thick and when it was popped in, I could see the window struggling to open due to the high amount of friction it was receiving on the guide. I felt like this wasn't right, so I removed it and testing before and after, the rattle was certainly dampened by it but again, i could still hear it rattling in other locations. Here is a picture of the tube they wanted put in there:

So with that removed, i added foam weatherstripping to 2 areas. The weatherstrip foam i used was 1/2inch wide and 1/16inch thick and came in a 66ft spool for about $5 (AMZN link). The first place i placed the foam was all along the top of the guide just as the TSB specified (except unlike the TSB i did it for the full length of the guide). I started with the window closed and shoved in the foam strip pulling back the guide to slide it between the guide and its housing. I did NOT expose the adhesive backing on the tape as i could only imagine the nightmare this would cause. The gap is tight enough that the pressure should keep it in place. I worked my way down the guide and then when i got to where the window was, i opened it and then continued through to the end of the guide. Below is a picture of what it looks like post-install (notice the white line, that is the backing for the adhesive i did not remove):

The second location i had to install some foam that the TSB did not address was the lower channel. There are actually two pieces of metal that sit side by side and i believe that this may actually be where i was hearing the rattling. Did the same as above and simply shoved a piece of foam in between them. In my case I used two separate pieces of foam but you could probably just use one long piece like i did in the top channel. Here is a photo showing where that foam is:

NOTE: this picture showcases the portion directly behind the window. You will need to pull back on the plastic guard placed on the metal housing to get in between the housing and the guide and to slide in the foam.

After you place the foam on the top and bottom, you should be good to go! if you have rattling or notice in some sections the foam is not tight enough, just shove another piece in there (or stick a piece to the front by exposing the adhesive back). This is what completely removed any and all rattling from the window. The metal body on the rear of the truck has no dampening so that also causes a little bit of rattle overall but the window rattle was far far worse.

Let me know if you have any questions!
