Billet-Customs.com Decals

Great build and write up :)

Thanks Wrong Way. Your handle reminds me of a tough situation \, long time ago, when we turned the wrong way down a one way street in TJ, Mexico...must be a good story there somewhere

There is almost no Raptor badging inside our trucks. This sticker from Billet Customs really looks great! Lighting was not good and the pics stink, but the badge looks GREAT.

G, I have been thinking the same thing, that there is NO Raptor badging, except on the Aux switches. I like what you did, I have been thinking of doing something in that 'no mans land" space right about the passenger airbag. Was thinking a cool billet strip with Raptor cut out of it, but then it becomes a projectile if the airbags deploy, so now i'm thinking a cool vinyl piece there with the Raptor/SVT logo.

Thanks, Be careful that you don't interfere with the Airbag, If the sticker was split in two along that center line, you should be OK.

More Recovery Gear arrived

One of the things I learned pulling a stuck Raptor from deep mud was the importance of having multiple recovery strategies. For me this meant more straps and shackles. After my first set of shackles and static strap were made non-available when we tried to pull the truck out backwards, all we had left was a under rated strap and my 3’ sling. We made it work, but barely.

Static vs Snatch

A Static Strap should not ever stretch and when used to remove a stuck vehicle, it can place tremendous stress on the frame and all connection points. A Snatch strap stretches.

Well let me just repeat what ARB says:
Specifically designed to stretch under load for maximum performance, an ARB Snatch strap is a very effective method of extracting a bogged down or immobilized 4WD when a second vehicle is present. An ARB Snatch strap are elastic, the benefits of which is twofold. Firstly the kinetic energy generated by the elasticity actually aids the recovery itself, and secondly, the elasticity greatly reduces the likelihood of vehicle damage during the recovery. The weight of each 4 x 4 and the weighted force of whatever caused the immobilization puts enormous strain on the points where the strap is attached, and without some elasticity, there is substantial risk of damaging the vehicle.
It is recommended that the strap’s minimum breaking strength be between two and three times times that of the vehicles GVM (Gross vehicle mass)

I got the 8000KG, (17,500Lbs) 30’ x 2 3/8”, with folded reinforced eyes and protective sleeves.
"ARB ARB705US 2-3/8" x 30' Recovery Strap - 17500 lbs Capacity"
Automotive; $58.79

IMO, you should carry both kinds as: Towing a vehicle with a snatch strap would be a bad idea.

I also got in two more shackles and another sling, this one is 10’ long. Slings have a lot of different uses and can be rigged in many different configurations: Basket style, passing one end thru the eye of the other end, or simple end to end. This 10' length can be used to wrap around a tree or large rock, used as an extention, or simply rigged around a stuck frame member.

As mentioned before, the rating is cut in half when you run one end thru the other.

I also got in the Earth Anchors, they are massive at 4’ long and ¾” thick.

This stuff is in addition to the Wyeth Power Winch, 30” crow bar, 2 more shackles, 30’ static strap and 3’ sling, the carry all, and folding saw. I also carry a couple headlamps should work need to be done at night.
