Need more info on your install.
First which product did you install?
Second how did you wire it up, need specific details on how you wired it up.
Third, where did you buy the product out of curiosity?
Fourth, what year/make/model truck.

Well the instructions state to wire them to the trailer wiring, so you are saying you did not do that?

Did you cut the red wire from the black driver box and cap it off?

He said he originally hooked up to the trailer lights and that’s when I was getting all my code errors, so did option 3 and he direct wired to tail lights and capped off red wire

Dunno to be honest... I'd need to know exactly how everything was wired and where exactly everything was wired to.
