Here's a great little light that has a small hook that folds out and you can hang it in front of the vent intake and it will shine directly on the hole for the dipstick when you check your oil. It cost almost $2! It's not the brightest/best light, but I've found it's a pain to get that spot lit to see where I'm trying to jam this thing in. I'm always a little nervous about just jamming into a dark spot.

It would be nice if somebody came up with a aftermarket dipstick that you could actually reach with out using a step ladder.
No sh it, I was just thinking that again last night! I'm 6'3" and I'm not even close to being able to reach in there without something to stand on. It's really buried.

I pulled the stick, did a half (.) masking job and hit the rim of the 'receiver' with some silver/grey paint. Sometimes I still need a light, but it helps a surprising number of times - lots of dark/rain up here this time of year.

1 min job and so far it is holding up just fine.
