After my ciphering figured out I can explain this mod away after 14 tanks of gas, it arrived today.

Since my wife was already mad at me for letting the snake get away:

I used it as a good excuse to get into the garage and install my new goodie.

I know it's a one beer job, but I didn't have any beer in the fridge that I wanted to drink (just in-law swill), so I had a Ben & Jerry's mini cup of ice cream, worked out perfect :waytogo:

everything was in the box:

nice clean workspace:

and about 20 minutes later - final product:

I've been getting 12.2 on 89 fuel. will let you know how it goes after a tank or two.

I'm actually more concerned about the in-cab noise level. How severe is the change? Thinking from the perspective of a sleepy 1yr old in the back seat, does the noise level change the quiet cabin dynamic that currently exists?

I honestly cannot tell the difference with a stock exhaust unless I am WOT, then you can hear it sucking air.

I think it is sleeping baby friendly.

The in-cab noise is nothing more than a little intake honk at the shift points. If you're not into the pedal, it's not obtrusive. If you are on the gas, it's damned impressive. But if it bothers you, you can put the unused rubber edge gasket all the way around the top of the airbox extension. That quiets it a bit.

The prefilter is a good idea. I bought one, and cleaned it yesterday for the first time. It was loaded with pollen, but the pleated filter itself was still clean. See photo.

Also, you will be surprised if you ever pop the hood and feel how warm the intake tube is after a drive. Hot air is not dense air. I found a good, easy, and inexpensive solution. See photo.
