I have made up my mind to buy Goodyear tires 315/70/R17. I would like some input on Duratrac vs MT/R. If any of you have actual first hand opinions on which does the better job I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Goodyear Duratrac are the best all around tires (rain, snow, ice, mud) and mtr are good mud tires. Mtr are louder than duratracs and stock.

I am sold on duratracs for Raptors in general.

2x for Duratracs. Ran em on my FJ and they are great tires. I also ran MT/Rs but IMO they are a bit too aggressive for on road driving. However for crawling off road the MT/R is a great tire and i'll be putting the 37" version of those on my Jeep next.

Just put the Duratracs on mine a couple weeks ago. They are slightly louder then the stock tires, but really not noticeable. So far I'm happy but I really haven't gave them a true test yet. They like to throw mud though, I definitely need to get my mud flaps on!

I've been running Duratracs for almost 2k miles and love them. They are slightly louder an stock but as was said, not really noticeable. They were great in the snow, what little bit we got and they do throw mud really well... I put my flaps on the front about two weeks after I got them on.

Unless they discontinue these tires I don't see getting any other tires for this truck.

I agree with Greg on this . I have the MT/R on my truck and they are a little loud , espcialy after about 5K on them.
What I like about these they do not thow as much gravel up do to the size of the voids on the outer tire edge. The stock BFG on a gravel road were brutal on throwing rocks up ; after the MT/R's were put on I actulay took off my mud flaps , it is that big of differance. .
If you are staying on the road more then off road the Duratrac is probably a better choice. The MT/R's do great everywhere outher then light snow or Ice.

Not meaning to derail this thread but I have the Toyo OC mt's and I was driving through some of the hardest rain I've ever encountered last week. I was seeing what it would take to get them to hydroplane (hitting standing water at 85) and those mudders would just not do it!

These bad boys have the sound level and wear of an AT tire, performance of a mud tire, and just plain look badass on a Raptor! Love these things.

It sounds like you're on the newer style MT/R. I had the old MT/R that came out in '97 on my old Dodge and found that I loved them in mud but, they might as well have been slicks on wet pavement. The newer design has more sipes in the tread and I'm told is better than the old version on slick surfaces. Recognizing that you've said the Duratracs are better for a mostly street truck, do you think they are significantly better on wet roads than the MT/R?

That's good to hear as I'm definitely considering the Toyos in addition to the MT/Rs. No one in town (Houston) seems to stock them in the appropriate size. So, I'm thinking I'll have to order them or the MT/Rs from TireRack or another online vendor if I go with either tire.

Thanks for the input.
