So locally, there is a guy selling a Whipple SC and some of its parts, see pics.

Supercharging is rather new to me, and I'm not sure about what other components are needed other than the manifold, injectors, belt, heat exchanger, intercooler, bolt up hardware and a tuner (I based that off a kit listing). Is this worth $400 on a gamble? Would sourcing the remaining parts make this worth it?

You may have hard time finding lower intake with intercooler. The heat exchanger and pump should be easy. if you were buying to flip i would say you could get 500 on ebay . i would offer guy $250 to 300 and sell on Ebay for $500

Bad idea!!!

I guess it would be good for someone who needs a part.
Who knows the condition of the compressor.
I don't know why the compressor is all apart, it doesn't come like that new.
Buying individual parts is really expensive.

Bad idea, unless you service these as a job. Obviously needs to be rebuilt, etc, etc. Start with something complete, but that's hard to find because who would ever install one and then take it off. That's like reversing your GF's boob job.
Ahahahah omg. Reversing your gf's boob job...I lost it on that
