Me and my Lightning-owning friend, are gonna make a trip to the local drag strip this weekend.

Now I know I don't have a chance against his Lightning, so while out there I was gonna find some other car more my speed to play with.

And yes I know my Raptor is not a "on-road racer".

But here is my question:
What setting should I use when I get to the track? (Off Raod Mode, AdvanceTrac, 4wd, etc.)

I am hoping it is not packed so I can have many runs.

But just wanna know which settings I should turn off or on to yeild the best results on the 1/4 mile????

My buddy's truck is an 03 DSG with intake, cat back, smaller pulley, and Diablosport 91 Pulley tune. I know he will do fine.

But I wanna know what 'features' I should turn off/on when I run on the track?

just press and hold the trac button until it blinks. i think that would be the best option. but try T/H mode too and let us know what your times are if u can do multiple runs! lol

Hold trac for a long time, been awhile but first it flashes then it does something else. Read your manual, I think from how I read it you can engage locking diff, and at 25 mph it kicks out (someone correct me if I am wrong). What about the sway thing. I wish there were straight up on/off switches for this shat ! and a gear lever to put it in 4wd, and manual locking hubs.
Have fun

I take Dodges and Chevys down with shifting, trac on and nothing else but High RPM's.
Start in second and shift quick, desert or street.
Lightning? You don't stand a chance. I drove some of these from my Uncles dealerships when they first came out and I can only imagine that a well cared for or modded Lightning would leave me way behind in a drag race.
Hemis not so much.

First and foremost, do NOT use ORM. Engage rear locker, hold the TC button down for about 10 sec. till it blinks, shift it yourself. You'll need to be in gear and ready to go when you hold the TC button down, otherwise it reverts back to "normal" when you go in and out of gear and will kick in a tad. You can also try running in 4wd if you want, depending on how the launch goes.....same goes for the rear locker. Those are the only things you need to mess with. You're shifting yourself so there'll be no need to use T/H mode.........as a matter of fact, there's no need to use T/H mode at all at the track.

I would not run in 4WD. Its not like your going to have a launch issue. Be sure to bypass the water if you can. Put down your tailgate and pull in sideview mirrors.

2WD with rear locker engaged.

Have fun. :peace:

I guess the locker engaged would be beneficial on a track, but it says strictly for off-road or slippery surfaces only. We don't need another broke axle thread on here. Besides, if the track is prepped, it's gonna be sticky anyway.

I'd leave the truck normal, everyday driving to get the ebst numbers. Let the transmission shift on it's own, an auto is the king of the strip. Besides, when it wants to shift, it will at the perfect point.

has anybody broken an axle in these from using the locker on dry pavement? I can see if you're turning, or doing a lot of driving it's rough, but a straight line 1/4 mile, I'd want it ON if it can handle it. Whats the weak link in the rears?

On the Gen 2 Lightnings the rears are basically indestrictuble. Other than the limited slip clutch packs going out over time leaving 1 wheel peels, slap a true trac in the rear and it'll hold up to ANYTHING power wise.

I'd definitely leave it in Drive as well, don't bother with trying to shift for it.
