What’s the deal with the black one? The mis match colors on the mirror and front clip looks strange. Did something happen to this one and they made repairs in the field?

It’s hard to know. Maybe something got damaged. The other theory is that it was one of the first Gen 3s built for testing and is a Raptor mule: which would make color matching body parts irrelevant since they are mostly covered up:

More pictures. First time I have noticed the Raptor emblem by the center hood vent.

These pics confirm that the Rigid Fog Lights aren’t a standard option and the bumper is no longer cut out in that area. So that means no aftermarket and the Rigid setup from the factory will be at least $12,000. And comes with blue interior...

Not necessarily. These are still test vehicles and not production vehicles. So things can change.

I could go either way on this. Certainly as far as styling goes, it's more like gen 2.1. Same engine with a tune. Same tranny/transfer case. But they fixed one of the biggest weak points on gen 2, the rear suspension, and they plotted an easy path for adding 37s for the less-than-wealthy crowd. All of the "connectivity" crap is just software, expensive, buggy, and unwanted. Bigger display. Whoop de doo. The more I argue against your case, the more I start to agree with it. I think I might have sold me. Maybe we should call it gen 2.3 just to get that 3 in there. LOL

Edit to add: Yeah, yeah, V8, Raptor R. I'll believe that one when it ships.
Yup its a Gen 2 with a facelift and some tech interior upgrades (which ford was wayyyy behind on) and the coil over rear.

For a true new generation it needs to be a new truck. Look at Gen1 Vs. Gen2.

Regardless.. When they drop the V8 I’m buying one

I do not see where the Fog lamps are part of the Raptor 37 package. I see them under bundled package.

I want to love the 3rd Gen (or is it 2.3 like @GordoJay said?), but I’m just not in love with it yet. Definitely some interior improvements, and the rear suspension is better. I just don’t love the grill and headlights.

I think this is one of those things I’ll need to see in person. That said, what I’ve seen doesn’t inspire me to make any changes for now. I’m very intrigued with how the Raptor R will stack up against the TRX regarding power numbers.

The Gen 2 applique tailgate is - IMO - the best looking tailgate ever. The new one is not good. It is off balance, in both size and position. I really hope they change it before launch, it looks worse than most other tailgates you see on the road today, which is a shame.
