It did, but I noticed the gremlins started after activating the Ford Connect? Prior to activiting I never had an issue, but it has now happened a handful of times after having activated … assumed it was a software/connectivity issue with the Ford software?
Just a follow up…has anyone taken their Gen 3 into the dealership for any updates?

Doesn’t make sense, but there are a couple spots around my area where the CarPlay always turns off and/or switches over to the radio..always the same spot. Not sure how/of cellular service could affect CarPlay??? Assuming it wouldn’t be a Bluetooth issue.

Anyone experiencing connection/disconnection issues with CarPlay? Seems like it is acting a little more buggy after activating the Ford Connect crap??? Sometimes resolves itself with turning the radio on/off, but have had a few instances in which it will not reconnect unless you turn the vehicle on/off?

Any updates and/or solutions for wireless/Bluetooth connection issues? I have a iPhone 12 Pro Max which is up to date.
I’ve had this issue in my gen3 too. Sometimes the phone will freeze in Apple Music and restarting it does nothing. That’s probably an Apple software issue.

On the other hand Ive also experienced the distortion when playing music over wireless SYNC 4. This is likely due to interference over the connection and likely due to 5GHz (let me state this is purely speculation, haven’t tested/researched the frequencies it transmits on yet.)

A lot of devices that use 5GHz nowadays face a plethora of issues due to interference with all the 5GHz devices we use nowadays. I have a wireless headset at home and it uses 5GHz and because of all the 5GHz routers in my apartment building it will frequently cut out and distort but eventually comes back in the middle of use. I will try to record the frequency transmission of SYNC 4 when my gen 3 is back from turbo repair (or find the freq online) but that could be the issue. Again I’m just speculating.

Good luck!

I have a couple spots with signal interference downtown, my Audi also did the same thing in those exact spots - for sure just a frequency issue (and I’m assuming it runs through WiFi not Bluetooth?).

Wireless CarPlay runs through the truck's wifi. It's why you can't access the truck's hotspot while connected to CarPlay.
In that case I’d assume if you changed your wifi band in the settings to use 2.4GHz that might help. I saw mine was set on 5GHz the other day but before I remembered to change it to 2.4 my turbo blew so i haven’t had to chance to change it. 2.4GHz will have a lot less pollution.

Just a side note, CarPlay runs and is stored on the iPhone. The vehicle is just a pass thru. It is more thank likely an issue with your iPhone and not sync.

This is on an iPhone 12 and had the same issue with previous iPhone 10, all software is up-to-date. There are definitely “dead spots”. On Verizon…will pay attention next time to see if it is switching between 5g or other coverage in the area.

I just picked up my Gen 3 last week. Wireless CarPlay was working fine until today.

This is really annoying because I LOVE having wireless CarPlay and it worked flawlessly EVERY SINGLE TIME in my 22 Sierra.

For reference I am on an iPhone 14 Pro with iOS version 16.3.1
