That was my line of thought too… But I’d make an argument from a reliability perspective that Gen 1’s V8 engine is more desirable than Gen 2 and 3’s V6 HOEB engine. That leaves me more unsure.
Yea NO.
I am not a V8 hater, but the 6.2 was not anything special.

It was built in limited numbers and as such is getting hard to get parts for.

6.2 was available in the Raptor, and the F250+ superduty. Around here at least the 6.2 is only seen in about 1 out of 100,000 superdutys.

In 3 years the shop I run has worked on one and only one 6.2 Ford. In a F350.

At that point, why would you sell it? It should be paid off and yours free and clear and you'll still get plenty of miles out of it. Whatever you'll get from selling it won't be worth as much as the benefit of having a fully paid off nice truck.
I dunno. Good point! But probably to buy a newer one.

Around me 2018s with 115K miles go for 37K retail before negotiations. Now with mileage out of the equation add 4-5 years to that with depreciation. I wouldn't be surprised people who traded their 115K 2018 got 30K trade in if retail is 37K. Id say after 4-5 years at that mileage 25K would be the best to expect. There is a soft depreciation floor to all these trucks, but 22-25K with a fresh set of tires, no accidents, no cracks in the windshield and clean as hell, is what I would expect. YMMV and location matters somewhat too. The Houston area doesn't have a lot of big wallet desire for 10 year old trucks because they are all commuters. If I lived somewhere with a heavy Raptor off road scene, older trucks would see more value in the secondary market for more off road use by enthusiasts. Not here, that's my theory anyway. Being in the hill country area the market is likely a bit better.

In Raleigh, NC its about 37-39k for a 100k Mile 2017-2020. In 4-5 years for a 2017-2020 in immaculate condition would be 15-20k off that price. Probably looking at 20-25k in my opinion with it being a more desirable truck. Looking at 2012-2014 Prices seem to be around 20-25k currently so it could be higher.

I mean, I get not wanting to buy a car that's value can drop off a cliff, but 4-5 years from now who knows.

In 4-5 years the Gen 2 will hit 10+ years old. Who knows what Ford will be doing with the Raptor. It's popular enough to keep building, so it won't be like the Gen 2 Lightning-the last generation of a performance 2 door truck. Nothing super special about the Gen 2 considering the Gen 3 had the same engine(dynos say more torque) and well an interior refresh.

The Gen 3's are already dropping pretty quick. Seeing some 21's in the 50's. IMO COVID pricing allowed the Gen 2 value to stay higher than what it should have been when the Gen 3 came out.

I can tell you it will hold the most value out of any 15-20 trim F-150.

Sell it to Europe, you will make profits ...I know it's not so simple...and I am not serious, but FYI, here, a 20's, with let say about 25K miles , it's 90K $/€, and a "new one" (we don't realy have new one...) around 150K $/€ (peasant version of course) No R here yet...
