@SilverGen1 do you still use the oem UCA's? On my 2011, the Blitzkrieg UCA's are contacting the coils at droop, so a limit strap (or cable) is required before I can drive it.

Yes, I am still on oem UCA's. I ended up recreating a limit strap setup that was similar to that of Evil MFGs before they went out. I swear we have talked about this before, this sounds like a familiar discussion lol

So....
I am curious again...
Been thinking about the shock swap for a while.
Know the buckets or shorter lower shock body would be the correct way.
But would there be any benefit to shortening the Gen 2 shaft like this???
Not looking for max effort, have just read quite a few people saying that they have Gen2 shocks with the Gen1 springs in stock buckets and travel roads/minor off road w/o trouble. Would there be less chance of damage by shortening up like shown??
(That would be a mod I could handle in the lathe myself, most of the reason for my asking)

You would actually get less travel with shortening the shock shaft, the only "upgrade" would be going from 2.5 to 3.0. It would decrease shock travel because the shock body of the 3.0 is longer than the 2.5. I also believe it would almost create too much preload on the front end, it would make your oem springs like eibachs/geisers and then if you had geiser/eibachs, thats where I would see you running into trouble.

My question is..... why? Do you feel the 3.0 are that much better? Are you looking for more time between rebuilds? I Can't say personally if the truck will ride better or worse.... IDK when I was thinking about going with the gen2 it was for time between rebuilds. The rebuilds are so easy in the 2.5 compared to the 3.0. I personally am glad I didn't go that way. JMO but if you can run a lathe. you can rebuild a 2.5 . LOL but I would ask your self why. What benefit are you looking to gain???

Putting a proper 3" dia shock on the front of a 3+ ton vehicle with only 11" of travel. Without investing another $3000 you'll never get back.
I get it and why you are doing yours and Others. but you are changing your buckets. I don't mean this as an attack at all. More of a personal type thing. Where I live is not a Hi speed off road Desert situation. More of a slow overland situation. And a daly driver. I don't pretend to know @rschap1 use. I think he lives near the dunes. I only ask the question Why? If you go the full bucket rout to switch to the 3.0 then I get it. (like you) That was my case before I was here. I wanted to switch because I was under the impression the 3.0 will need rebuilt less (witch seams to be true) and a good thing. but they are way tougher to rebuild when you need to. and the 2.5 will not last as long (50K) but are easy to rebuild. now wether the 3.0 will ride better than the 2.5? I have no clue. For a slow overland type ride and a daly. to put 3.0 on not the right way.(no bucket) or for the sake of putting 3.0 on. I don't think you will gain anything. almost the opposite. of corse IMO...LOL

But but but.. the chicks dig it.
OK...... I am switching tomorrow!!!!!!! LOL In the end I guess I am saying if it is worth doing. it is worth doing it right. Do the buckets or go to Kings. unless you are just rolling to Starbucks. Bless Your Heart do what you want. LOL
