Gen 2 build quality better?

Lol- you definitely don’t know much bout manufacturing/production. The answer is emphatically YES the odds are the first 1-2 years of this Gen3 truck are more sloppily built than the Gen2s.

My SO and I have worked for global manufacturing companies for 25 years and wouldn't agree with those odds. My early '15 F150 Lariat had zero problems compared to a myriad of issues on my '19 Raptor.

It’s a 1000% FACT that ford was missing employees on/off throughout covid times & that applies to not only assembly line workers but engineers/designers/marketing/IT etc etc etc- EVERY business - especially those that make tangible goods- suffered during the pandemic & still after.

Right, and that generally translates to reduced efficiency and increased lead times but doesn't automatically translate to poorer quality. Neither of our companies experienced noticeably worse QC and that includes my SO's company that had a massive strike during that time.

I do believe pre-Covid builds from every manufacturer are better. There is even a phenomenon on auto trader and cycle trader where “pre Covid“ is a selling point.

Yes I do. Think about who missed the most work through being affected by Covid, the older more experienced population. I would love to know the average years of experience now vs 2016 in engineering and manufacturing.

So does this also apply to the problems Ram has had with the TRX? I remember TFL Truck coined that phrase “We bought a Covid truck”! In some ways this may have certainly played a role into manufacturing. But as mentioned, first year models always suffer and the manufacturer learns from this. They have also had to find alternate suppliers, use revised chips and delete options to get vehicles out.

You are comparing a 21 vs a 20. Should you be comparing a 21 vs a 17. Nearly all new model vehicles have a few glitches. You brought it upon yourself buying a new model. I would take my 21 as better than the 19. Way better suspension and handling, better interior and sound system. Better transmission tune and engine seems better matched. They even made it so one can drain the oil with out a mess.

So my Gen 3 no issues so far- I would state that Covid has hit every manufacturing company- and it a great deal more- employees don't care, then it's missing employees- I'm not trying to bag on Fords employees, but many employees are/were scared to be frontline workers in this many have been pissed off and management dips the hammer to keep going- that's a recipe for problems

After watching a couple factory videos of the Dearborn plant. One thing not addressed. All F-150 models are intermixed. As they come off the line, one might be a King Ranch then an FX4 followed by a Raptor. How the hell do they do that and still crank out one ever 53 seconds?
