Here are two quick videos we shot over the weekend in Glamis. As we all know video never really shows what the terrain looks like or the speed. These were about 2 1/2 foot whoops at 70 mph. The first one is a drive by and the second is Matt holding his IPhone. We plan on getting some good footage and putting something together in the future.
In the second video what you hear that makes the truck sound like such a POS is the bypass shocks. That is why you have to wear headsets when off-road to be able to talk. They also cancel out all the noise and you can barley hear the shocks anymore.

Question about bypass shocks... is this type of noise common in the stock fox shocks? I hear this type of noise sometimes on the road over normal bumps sometimes. It's not consistent by far but I do hear them here and there.

Everything feels tight as can be and I guess I'm starting to get used to the sound but it did cause concern at first.

Your stock shocks should be quiet. When I have heard noise from stock shocks, the common cause is loose mounting bolts or loose lower control arm bolts.

I have been seeing a lot of post lately regarding power steering issues. Here is what I have been going through.
When my truck was finished in October we took it to Mexico and o blew my PS pump after only about 30 miles off-road. When I returned home for a quick fix I threw a stock Ford pump in. (They now come with a lifetime warranty) I drove the truck a few times, taking it to Pismo and Glamis.
Maybe a total of 500 miles. big50 and I took the truck to Prairie City to get some action pictures of the truck. After the pictures were done I let Jeremiah take the truck for a lap and when he returns the PS line to the cooler had blown off. (Have seen this many times) So after about 30 min the truck was fixed and we headed home. Once I was home I replace the spring hose clamp from Ford with a SS hose clamp.
Two weeks later we are doing a run out of Carson City and at the end of the day I was doing donuts on the lake bed. The PS pump started making noise and I could smell fluid so I stopped and we pulled the hood.
We determined I had blown my pump along with a PS line. I carry a serpentine belt that eliminates the PS pump and we installed it for the drive home. Which was not easy with zero power steering.
The part that bothered me most was I have a new system from Howe on order and I was not happy about having to do the job twice. (More on the Howe system later)
Once I was home I started the tear down.
I pulled the pump and that's when I saw the hose going into the rack was leaking. When I pulled it out, I saw that the pressure in the system had forced the hose out, bending the mounting plate and breaking the shoulder that holds it in.

I also saw where the hose was starting to separate and the crimp.

Here is a picture of the new hose.

I installed the new stock PS pump and hose and have not driven the truck off-road since.
Now for the Howe system.
Howe came out awhile ago with a system for our truck. The problem was, it was not a bolt in system, there were no hoses or fittings, the company who made there mounting bracket for the pump did such a bad job they were embarrassed to sell it.
They are now coming out with a new updated version. It will include a new pump, bracket, hoses, all the needed fittings, cooler and reservoir. I should be receiving mine in the next couple of weeks and will let you know how it works.
