When I got my oil changed I asked them to look it over, rained stuff still wet...... so I looked yesterday and saw this. ( see pictures below) Are these gaps normal? If not, what should the dealer do to fix this correctly? They are on both sides

They are normal part of the trucks design to drain water etc. Some trucks I've noticed have larger gaps than others. You can always seal them up if needed.

Where’s the water supposed to drain bro? Bed is pitched toward the nose- I freaked the other day thought I had some kinda fluid leak black watery stuff dripping from just behind cab, upon closer look realized it was the “juice” oozing outta a few bags of black mulch I had in the bed & the black tainted water ran down the bed & out those holes & down a frame support rail onto my driveway.

so yeah they’re there for a reason & work I guess lol

I think the gaps are better sealed if you have a cover, between the gaps and tailgate daylight, dust and water are all through the bed

They're purposely formed and I think they're a good idea. Whenever you wash out your bed, the water stacks up there.

With that said, I run a Bakflip cover and may seal mine since there shouldn't be any water issues.

This is actually the first truck I've owned that didn't have seam sealer at the gaps. If parked on a decline, they all held water before.

Your first truck? :D
Nope, have had a truck since the 80’s. Most trucks have the drain slots at the front of the bed. Guess Ford had to do something different with an aluminum bed. But slots in a bed for draining no matter where they are is pretty common and even more common to get clogged up with debris which probably happens when it doesn’t drain.

Also need to remember the tailgate is extremely porous. Water, dust, snow, mud all comes through big gaps around tailgate. Never understood why they don’t make the tailgate seal like the doors. Pretty much required to put a barrier up if you have a tonneau and want to keep crap from filtering in. I used the following for $22:

Easy to install and does the trick.
