I usually swap them out every other or every 3 oil changes - i use 5k mile OCI.

Awesome thanks. I pretty much do the same. That's what I'll do! U do it yourself? I'm not a mechanic but reasonably handy in the garage. But if its a complete pia ill have it done.

Thanks guys, just ordered a set of plugs

edit: tried to order a few places, finally got some from CJ Pony Parts.... turns out they are back ordered too :/

I'm getting a shake and a cel every time I pass a car

can we get a gap confirmation? Ford performance ships them so they can bounce on the strap lol

Just got some 542's from my local dealer. They are gapped at .030 Should I gap them down to .028 or leave them. Will be running a stage 2 tune from GOOSETUNED.

you can try it at .030 and see if you get a missfire, if you do gap them down to .028. Or just put them at .028 and call it a day.

My factory SP542 plugs were stamped NGK ILTR7N8 with Ford branded ceramic. You can still get the NGK equivalent to SP542. In my mind the SP542 were just Ford branded NGKs. The SP578 are 1 heat range hotter. I haven't been able to find out why Ford did a widespread supersede of SP542 with SP578 other than the SP542 seems really easy to carbon foul because they are a cold plug but OE for the 2.7 EcoBoost.
