Let me be the 1st to rain on this parade. I loved the cowl induction on my 70 Chevelles. But that was a different time. And I wasn't blasting thru large puddles & streams, routinely.

Now you need to provide a run of stable air flow for the mass air flow sensor. I don't know how to get that in a practical cowl induction.

It would be nice if you could come up with one. Good luck.

I have seen cowl induction hoods & intakes on other EFI's. But what you said about the puddles and streams is what I'm worried about with that route.

However, my current intake couldn't possibly be worse. If I stuck which the basic stock or Roush design and location, the box itself would still need to be redesigned, because the more sealed stock one will not fit any longer.

It is common for jeeps to have their intakes routed into the cowl area. I wouldn't think it would preform poorer than the cowl induction hood idea??

As mentioned you won't be able to just do an old style round filter on the top of the engine sealed to a cowl hood because of the MAF sensor you need to keep it in a tube which will kind of limit you in where your intake goes and what shape it can be. You're more than likely not going to be able to relocate it from it's stock area.

Well Dan, sounds like you got the enthusiasm & creativity to pull it off. I know I don't. Keep us up on what you come up with. I'd love to see it work.

With a blower your money is better spent on a better heat exchanger, larger intercooler reservoir, and a better pump to drive the system. Yes, you would get a benefit from drawing cooler air but no where near the mods I just mentioned.

If you don't already, you should look at a dual pass heat exchanger and fans. This will do much more to lower your intake temps. If you add a bigger reservoir that will help as well. The pump will help move the extra fluid through the system quciker to get additional cooling. The faster the fluid moves the better.

There is something else that may work, a killer chiller. It taps into your ac system and cools off the fluid far below ambient temps. http://www.killerchiller.com/

I had a similar system in my 05 mustang. Can't do it with the Raptor, but I had a reservoir mounted in the trunk where the spare was supposed to go.

I'm mainly concerned about the design of the Roush intake (filter element box). The cooler air would just be an added plus. I appreciate the info on those products. May have to add them to the list later on.

Then get a volant, plug the hole in the front and do a hockster style intake tube into the fender.

Just make sure you get the donaldson filter!

That is the old version of the volant.

Look at the new version, it doesnt have the big side opening and the bottom opening.
