I am in the middle of a full Xpel wrap on my 200 mile 2023 37pp.

Detailer found major metal contamination from factory. Purple deoxidizer popped everywhere. Car hasn’t even been driven through first tank of gas.

Now - first panel done.

Decided to go Xpel ultimate plus with built in ceramic vs stealth. My Escalade is stealth and my last 3 cars including last raptor were stealth. Switching for shiny this time.

Progress pic attached. Pic of Escalade just because it’s sexy in stealth.

Definitely make sure they do it right. These guys have done a bunch of cars for me. They are very careful to follow the steps.

Contamination (mineral deposits) would be found any new car. It’s not unique to Ford. I use a product called Iron-X before a wax to strip the paint and wheels of any contaminants. Clay is the next step.

I’m guessing you never have washed your own cars?

For sure - I only wash my own cars outside of these wraps and details - just saying, this was a lot and all over. Usually I see this on lower panels.

Goes to show you the transportation process isn’t flawless.

How much material did you order & what did it cost?

I have a friend that has experience & willing to do it for me. I’m just want to make sure I order enough to cover the truck.

When you use the Iron-X do you spray it over the entire car like a pre-wax?

yes spray everywhere. and that contamination is completely normal on a new car thats transferred by rail. even if you washed it normally a lot of that would have come off. I actually used the maquiars. wheel cleaner. just need to clean it off as directed. then clay bar then wax. every spring after winter it get the works. then keep waxed all the rest of the year and prep for winter with wax again.
