I know this is an old thread. I caught this writeup initially over on DIYMA. I wondered if the owner was over here as well.

You didn't use the JL Cleansweep itself, just the SSI, correct? How did they run the signal from the SSI to the AudioControl unit? Does the audio control take a standard wire input, or did they have to make their own RCA adapters to get the signal there? I know the SSI is designed to output direct to the cleansweep so it has no RCA outputs.
My amps are the Zapco DC Reference series. They have built-in EQ and time alignment capability, no need for an outboard processor. They also use the proprietary Symbilink connector to get the signal into the amp. I have the Symbilink converters that take an RCA and go to the DIN cable required. I just need RCA out of the SSI.

Yes, just the SSI was used. I will have to go back and look at documentation but I believe line levels to the EQ were standard paired wire, not RCA's. I have the documentation at home, or I will be pulling the console this weekend and can confirm.

the summing device just sends a summed signal through speaker wires. the cleansweep is in essence a hi/low converter. it just has fancy stuff inside for leveling out the oem eq curve

Maybe I need to start looking into making my own RCA's from the output of the SSI. I have enough EQ capability in my amps to not need the cleansweep itself. Especially since it seems like the factory EQ curve does not change much with volume.

Bottom line is, it looks like you are much better off tapping signals from anywhere except the factory sub output if you want to add an amplifier and sub. Most people wouldn't ever notice the clipping or limitations of the signal, but if you are sensitive to it you will hear the clipping, and it certainly isn't good for your equipment.
