While driving to get our French Bulldog puppy Dobby in Toronto 2 weeks ago, I got message on dash front collision avoidance sensor blocked or dirty. That caused the ACC to not function. Kind of annoying. I looked around grill but couldn’t figure out what to clean. I wiped front camera clean as spray wasn’t doing it. On way home (1,000 miles round trip) the warning went away after popping up incessantly and cruise worked. But front camera stayed very cloudy and continues to be that way.

Have there been reports of bad cameras here? I don’t recall.

Anyway, made appointment for oil change and camera.

Welcome to Canada and the 6ix. Happens to me on the highway regularly with road spray/snow/freezing rain. Goes away after the ***** melts away. TBH, I don’t pay attention to it and just hit “OK”.

Give the WW a shot at give the camera a wash.

Cute pup you got there.

man, why don’t you come clean (pun intended:lol: )
I mean... someone’s got to polish this ****...

tell the truth. You pm’d me and convinced poor simpleton me to clean it with coarse sandpaper.
Curses! Foiled again.

how the heck would one get back there to clean it on the road. More sandpaper?

c’mon... your Man card. hand it over.
B.F.H.

seriously, tho - I just cleaned the bumper off and got rid of the alert.

Brief update. Had synthetic oil change, nys inspection, and they had to order either a new camera or parts for it. They said parts. I can’t imagine they can replace a lens, etc.

waiting to hear when it’s in.

on another note, got a rattle in pano. Read in another thread, don’t know which, that there are 4 screws that hold the stationary glass in place. Are they inside, outside? Any pic or diagram?

Ya gotta move the shade out of the way, then you expose the bracketry and torx bolts that hold the rear glass. Front glass is a little harder to work with. I watched the youtube videos, read a bunch of threads on it and tried my hand at adjusting / tightening, it still rattles.

You are very funny. And I’m very dense. Until your last sentence about the rattle still there, I thought you were detailing how they remove camera lenses. Lol.

When you get it back, look for the following on the receipt

customer complains of poor camera visibility. Found poor imaging from front camera. Inspected, found customer cleaned with 300 grit sandpaper. Replaced under warranty because, let’s be honest, he needs a break in life.

customer complains of rattling from moon roof. unable to verify customer concern.

Customer complains of sync screen locking up. performed sync diagnostics. No problem found. Sync version up to date.

;)

seriously, good luck though.

I've had that same warning come up a lot this winter so I probably need to get in there and clean the ACC unit (the camera has always worked when I've needed it).

So they replaced the camera and it seems better than new. One of the views is different. The one that showed sort of a V shape is no longer there, it's just a magnification of the front. Unless I'm nuts which is entirely possible.

They lubed the panorama roof seals and tightened the glass and the rattle, for now, is history.

They said they verified my "white lie" of the Sync freezing and updated it but not to the newest version. Same as old.
