For those of us that don't have and OEM front camera, the Lockpick looks like a good option. What's a good camera with a good install bracket that can be added to the front?

I've got a Nav-TV sitting here waiting for my 2014 to be delivered but I'm going to recommend you go with MyFordTouch Lockpick. It's cheaper and there are a slew of camera's out there that will work with it. I installed one on my 2009 jeep jk with front and rear camera's and it's always worked great. The only reason I went with the Nav-TV this time was I wanted the factory camera. The Car Stereo Company runs group buys which saved a bundle from MSRP for the Nav-TV if you decide to go that route.

Wiring in an aftermarket (non-stock) camera to the Lockpick is as easy as installing the Lockpick (plug and play) and running a video wire (simple RCA termination) and if I remember correctly a 12 volt supply to the camera. After it's properly enabled when in reverse the rear camera displays on the screen and if in drive and vehicle speed is <10mph the front camera displays automatically. I have really enjoyed it and it even has a provision to connect a video recorder to (no audio at least I could never get that to work). I called the Lockpick people and they told me there was no provision to use the OEM front camera however.

Im running the lock-pick with aftermarket front and rear camera's from camera-source.com, and can't complain one bit, chris uses all the ford factory brackets with his camera's, clear as hell. If this is in anyone's interest here's the link....

Is the camera waterproof ( I know maybe a stupid question) next question would be could you hook up the front washer that ford puts in with their camera?

When I got my truck I thought I'd be using my front camera a whole lot more than I do. It's cool, but it's only really useful for climbing rocks and what not at low speeds unless you get nav-tv or something of the sort. That's just me though

here, on frf
having installed both units, i can say the nav tv interface is easier to work with. and with the right parts can add a front camera. the lock pick is a cheaper alternative and work as advertised. the only downfall is the interface to access the video is more involved. if that doesnt matter, then the lock pick will work fine.

Can you expand a little on that? I'm curious now. I was reading the Lockpick instructions, and turning the cameras on/off involved pushing buttons on the steering wheel controls for a few seconds. Is that what you are referring to?

I also read you can have the front camera come on automatically at under 7mph. That sounds like incredibly distracting in rush hour traffic, but interesting.

Thanks!

I installed the Lockpick and front camera on my 2011 the other day. It's a really simple plug and play affair. The most challenging part is removing the center console trim pieces to get into the stereo/ Nav area. There is a pretty decent video on youtube that shows the step by step. All of the harnesses and camera are direct plug and play. I haven't figured out the settings stuff to make the front camera come on at low speeds but that's on my list to figure out this weekend. The camera is pretty handy for low speed off road work, parking and amusing retarded passengers. I think it's worth the money if you don't mind doing about 1.5-2 hours worth of really easy work.

I have to admit that it took me forever to learn the correct button push, power on clicks with the lockpick to enable front and rear camera's AND allow for DVD play in motion on the jeep MyGig. I still keep the instructions in the glove box as it seems I'm always doing something to the jeep that requires pulling the battery (resets the entire system). No idea how it interfaces with the Raptor.
