Here is what I went with (but in black)

It is Snell 2010 certified, so if you so choose to do something in SCCA, or the Silver State, or many other sactioned race events, you will most likely need SA2010 or something better.

G-Force Pro Phenom SA2010 Helmet - SafeRacer

I chose the open face because of my glasses, and because I wanted the visibility. I will probably change to closed face in the next year or two. Also, because of the price at $180.

Saferacer is a great site for everything, and they shipped my helmet to me for free in less than a week. I called them up over the phone and ordered what I needed and they can through.
They have other companies and other styles. You could go inexpensive like me, or spend over $1000 on a helmet, up to you.

So we need a helmet for this event???

Every truck must have these items at a minimum before participating:
1. Working 4wd
2. All maintenance up to date and no major issues
3. Decent tires: We’re not going to go around and checking everyone’s tires but if you have very little remaining tread do us a favor and get them replaced before the event.
4. Spare tire/tires secured and located in the bed of the truck. Contact WSI for mounting solutions
5. Helmet(s) - Mandatory for the closed course/high speed areas
6. Tow strap at least 20’ and rated to pull the truck and 2 D rings
8. Boots: You may have to get out into mud so have the appropriate footwear.
9. Outdoor clothing: This event is rain or shine so like above have the appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.

Which in most folks case is two, one for the co pilot as well...

Yes, if you are on the closed course section ie. The area for the route you must have a helmet before you will be allowed to proceed onto that property.

If you guys are looking for something low cost I just picked up a couple of these Evolution 2in1 helmets, DOT approved. You can remove the lower front part and the clear visor for a full open face which is much more comfortable and cool for sitting in a truck.

The quality is actually not that bad for a $89 helmet and they look sharp. plus they have a skull and bones on the front so you know they gotta be badass, hahaha. :pimp:

Heres where I got them - Open Face Motorcycle Helmets | 3/4 Motorcycle Helmets - LeatherUp.com
