I got a question, yesterday it was helmets, today it is "Recovery Gear". I know we need tow ropes 20' with D ring hooks, but what should we really have for the run and for the truck in general?

Thanks,

Fred

Here are the things I usually have in my truck's tool bag:
20' tow strap
20' snatch strap
3 shackles
Basic hand tools
zip ties
tire slime & plug kit
racer's tape (high strength duct tape)
electrical tape
various electrical connectors
work gloves
nitrile gloves

Things I have secured in the cab:
mini-air compressor
complete first aid kit
fire extinguisher
Thermal blankets

In the bed:
Full tool box
Hi-Lift Jack
fire extinguisher
case of water
spare tire.

Awhile back we posted up a photo from Erik Miller (2012 King of the Hammers Champion and volunteer driving instructor for this event) who asked a very similar question and offered up a little bit of a challenge on this very subject. Here's a copy of that poste:

How well thought out are your trail tools? Here is a great test to see if they're up to par... Next time you prep your rig for the next race or trail ride, try using nothing but what's in your trail bag. The question will answer itself pretty quick! Who has tried this before?

you can read a lot of the responses he got HERE

When and how do the raffles work? Before the event or at the event? or after?

Ordered a Rigid 40" LED light bar and should be getting a front bumper too. When the light comes in the wife won't have an idea what it cost so I'm good to go on that one.

We sell raffle tickets throughout the event and hold a drawing during the banquet.

I wouldn't worry too much about recovery gear Fred just bring the basic stuff on the list. I think plenty of people will lend a hand if needed ill be snatching all kinds of stuff from work up in case it's needed. He'll I might even loan you one of my many spares I'm bringing.

Im just bringing the required stuff and my tool kit. Already spent enough money, going to rely on the more senior guys who have it all already. Just slowly accum it over the years.

Eh just me essentially tearing my truck apart and installing all this crap I bought. Or we could all just crash Fred's place and actually have a party. Don't know how his wife will like that haha.

Hide yo kids hide yo wife.

Fred Having A Install Party? You better be flying me out there for that ill bring some beer.
