Fox and Ford both claim 100,000 miles under normal driving conditions so I figure if they blow a seal under 100,000 miles I stand a better chance getting them replaced with the ESP? What does it say in the fine print Mark? I don't understand how they could be considered "special" if they are installed on the assembly line? Not questioning the validity I just dint read the fine print and I would like to know what Ford is trying to pull here.

I was saying Ford might extend the ESP to the shocks because they are special compared to "normal" shock... but this is "wishful thinking" on my part.

I asked about the warranty in our chat and got a definite answer of 3yr/36,000 miles.

SVTEngineers said:
Warranty for the Fox Shox is the same as 3/36.

And later, I asked about the ESP extending the warranty of the Fox Shox. The answer was less definite.

SVTEngineers said:
I do not know, but would expect that it would. Standard warranty for all Ford Cars and trucks is the 3/36 for all parts (except Powertrain based parts) including the Fox Shocks.

What bothers me is this statement from the Ford ESP documentation:

Ford ESP website said:
These are the only components not covered by Ford ESP's Premiumcare

Mechanical – Service adjustments/cleaning; battery/cables; belts, hoses, brakes (front hub, drums, shoes, linings, disc rotors and pads); coolant; exhaust system (including catalytic converter); lights (bulbs, sealed beam and lenses); filters, fluids, lubricants; manual clutch disc; shock absorbers; sparkplugs/wires; squeaks and rattles; tires; tune-ups; wheel balancing; wheel alignment; wheel studs; wiper blades.

https://www.fordesp.com/v2/Coverage-Charts.aspx#exceptions

:(

P.S. I don't think Ford is trying to "pull" anything... my dealer made it very clear that the shocks were excluded from the ESP when they tried to sell it to me. They showed it to me in writing as they explained what was and wasn't covered by each plan. I've had experiences at other dealers that were not so forthright... YMMV.

Some aftermarket shock absorbers (Bilstein) are covered under a lifetime warranty from the shock mfr. But ONLY if you buy them aftermarket and they are not on your car/truck as OEM equipment, as the shocks from the factory are covered under the vehicle warranty.

Are the Fox shocks "off the shelf" units or were they built to spec for Ford by Fox. (I am guessing the latter). This is the case with "sport option" shocks like Tokico or Bilstein made for Ford/Chevy/etc by the shock mfr.

how did you know it was leaking? difference in handling? inspection? would like to know before my 35k mark comes up lol

Carwash Jesse. Was washing the undercarriage for a car show I was helping organize and had a hard time washing a lot of oily substance off the right front shock. Closer inspection found it was in fact oil from around the shock seal.

They should be fully rebuildable. Get a hold of Fox's off road division.

You will notice shock oil on the shock shaft if the seals are blown. (leaking)

Click here and call or email.

On the price list it's only 105 bucks to fully service a 2.5 bypass shock.

Rebuilt is good as new don't waste money on new shocks.

We run Fox on our trophy truck and the guys in their service department are top notch. One of the great things about the raptor is the fox shocks and getting the same service that a multi million dollar race team gets! Fox Rocks!

Don't hesitate to have them rebuilt. We get ours rebuilt after every Score race and they are good as new. They take a HUGE amount of abuse and just keep on keeping on! The bummer is the down time for shipping and rebuilding but it's away cheaper and just as good as new shocks. You can even talk to them about upgrading to 3" shocks.

So what you're saying is that Fox will meet every Raptor owner in Plaster City and test/revalve for an entire day free of charge!
