I am curious if anyone ran into an issue where you were working an issue under warranty and the warranty ran out before being resolved. And did you ever get resolution?

I have a 2017 Raptor that has had engine issues since 48k miles. In and out of the shop 7 times. Then, 1600 miles past the warranty, Ford decides the engine is unrepairable. But... warranty is expired. The extended warranty company refuses to cover it because they feel it is Ford's problem. Now I am stuck, no one wants to pay.

Thoughts?

No, but I have had it go in multiple times near the end of the warranty for something and always asked that question. They would always say as long as its in before the warranty and we cant fix it, it's on record and it will be covered.

I'd say it's on either ford, the dealer or the extended warranty company.

If you have an aftermarket warranty you might be on your own. If the original complaint was started under the factory warranty, Ford is usually pretty good about taking care of their customers. I've had a couple of issues that Ford covered just outside of warranty, but it was simple stuff, not an engine. Bad dealer might be causing you problems. This is the reason people go with a genuine Ford esp.

was the extended warranty from the dealer i.e. ford/protect FORD ESP. or online at floodford. I believe all those are one in the same and a ford product.

It depends on the nature of the failure past the factory warranty and what happened before.

Example: Let’s say your cam phasers had to be replaced and you had a leaking oil pan repair under the factory warranty, but after it expired you spun a rod bearing. Those 2 conditions are not related. This is a gross generalization, but hopefully makes the point.

Maybe elaborate a little on what engine problems were under the factory warranty vs. now.

Is the truck tuned, or modified with any significant aftermarket parts?

Aftermarket warranties are a scam notoriously difficult to work with. Their whole business model is built around the math that they do whatever they can to minimize pay out.

What was the nature of the engine issue? Did you buy the truck new? 7 repairs for the same thing clearly indicates a dealer workmanship issue. They should stand behind their work and properly repair the truck, regardless of what it costs them.

Sounds like it is Fords problem. Did you phone Ford Customer service or are you just taking the Dealers crappy advice?
Spent the evening and morning on the phone with Customer Relations. I now know how many different variations of "there is nothing we can do" they can come up with. I have apparently elevated the issue as far up the management chain as I can because this mornings answer to my request to be elevated was "Unless you retain legal counsel, I can not provide you anyone else to talk to".

The tone of the conversation was very direct and had heavy implications that they will remove their offer to cover 60% if I keep pushing.

There are no after market parts or additional tuning.

Throughout this ordeal, the issue has been engine power loss and rough acceleration. Occasionally the truck would alarm that it had no oil pressure.

The computer was reporting; 1) Engine Control System had detected an electrical fault with one of the temperature sensors. 2) Internal timing components may be stuck 3) Computer is receiving invalid data from the engine/powertrain 4) Turbo malfunction and a few other errors.

The dealership replaced the oil pump at one point. Also replaced the alternator, just in case it was throwing off a lot of EM causing erroneous errors.

It was abundantly clear to me and the dealership that the engine was slowly failing. They claimed that they are bound by the repairs that the Ford computer system was dictating based on the error codes.

Bought it new. And at one point the dealership told me they wouldn't abandon me but after 2+ months, they are starting to distance themselves.
