If I wanted a 4-door I’d by a car or SUV. I’m gonna have to keep this one (2017 with 80,000) for a long time or search 2020 Scabs for sale when it comes time to replace her.

I just bought a Scab a couple of months ago for this very reason. I was afraid there would be no more new ones. I wanted a Scab V8 but went ahead and got a 2020 model. It was pretty hard to find even then. Now I am glad I got it. I don't want, don't need, and will never buy a 4 door truck. If Ford never makes another Scab they have lost my business forever.

I bought my Scab in Virginia (live in IL) for this very reason. Scabs look better, are better offroad, and are easier to park (especially in my garage). If I had a larger family I would consider a Screw but that's about it.

That hurts worse hearing an engineer talk about it. Can't help feel like he's lying a bit about the SCREW being comparable in performance. Certainly doesn't feel that way in my experience...and apparently the original design team agreed, since SCAB was the only option for the original release.

I'm not saying the SCREW doesn't have perks - I recall Trey arguing in favor of them for the Baja Raptor Run for the storage space (and he drives a SCAB). But have driven both, the SCAB is so much more sporty.

Whining aside, I'm so glad I got my 2017 SCAB with the moonroof. I had a feeling that was the year model to buy, and AFAIC it is the best overall package.

And obviously Ford is right on this matter - the 1 in 10 number is probably an overestimation of SCABs on the road today. I led a group of 30 trucks on a trail run last summer, and I was the only SCAB there. I was rather proud to be the lead truck in that regard :)

I think it will only add value to our scabs as the screw won't fit in a lot of peoples garage. Ford screwed up with the design on the 2021 Raptor, no V8 option on the Gen 2's and years ago eliminating the Ranger so their history of making wise market choices doesn't hold water!

yeah, his body language says that he's not being fully truthful with that answer. the real reason is the marketing dept / bean counters won that one and its just not worth it to them anymore. im sure the screw is very good but just google "trophy truck" and they are all shorter than a screw would be.

Why would the value increase in a model that sold in such low numbers that it was discontinued? If people wanted SCABs, the sales numbers would have reflected that.

The EcoBoost Gen 2 outperformed the Gen 1 by a huge margin in power, torque, efficiency, and acceleration; there was no downside to it. The sales numbers show that it was anything but a “screw up”. The 6.2 is a boat anchor in comparison.

As far as Gen 3, personally I think Ford did a nice job with it. Certainly not a “screw up”. The sales numbers will speak for themselves.

So glad I ordered when I did. I wouldn’t have purchased a SCREW, have been looking forward to a SCAB the whole time.

because the most new buyers are looking for practicality and everyday use. as time goes on and the trucks move into a collectibility aspect people become more concerned with rarity and uniqueness. look at where lightning and 2 door ram srt10 prices have gone in the last year. hell, you have people paying 70k for acura integra type r's, crazy.
