Looking to get an alarm put in my truck now that I live back in the city (yay traffic). Should I get the ford system or a Viper system?

Must haves:

* Remote start
* Tamper/vibration sensors
* Glass break sensors
* Hood latch sensor
* Tail gate sensor

Should have:

* GPS tracking of the truck
* Remote windows down
* Possibility to add in a loop around the spare (think breaking the loop triggering the alarm)

I think I answered my own question here, its probably going to have to be a viper to get all these features.

If you have a viper what model and add on modules do you have?

I don't trust the Viper dealers to install them correctly. I also don't want 20 3M scotchlok connectors cutting 1/2 way through the wires on my harness. I'd go with Ford.

I got the Ford system (Remote Access and Vehicle Security System) and it is very basic. Security system only adds a shock sensor to the alarm. The Ford website lists an IT-s (infrared Interior Theft Sensor) but this is BS, it does not have anything like that. The Remote Access lets you use your phone as a keyfob and the range is unlimited as long as the truck has cell service. It will also text and email security alerts.

But there is none of the other items. No glass break, no contacts for other sensors, no GPS, no remote windows. For close to $700 installed, the Ford system is not worth the money unless you regularly need the additional range on the remote start.

I am planning on looking at the viper systems this weekend. The system looks pretty good with good range too.

the ford system is limited to what you can do. i have the 5904 in my truck along with the gps smart start module. i have added window automation so my windows roll up on lock, (and down with aux1) a glass sensor, a tailgate pin, a tilt sensor, and a backup battery siren. i have the capability of adding whatever i want to my system due to the 4aux channels i have available.

Can you PM me a quote for what you described? Someone tried stealing my tailgate last week and I think my tailgate lock slowed them down so they gave up. I'm in so cal but willing to come up since I've got family in Palo Alto.

Noah did the alarm system on mine & I could not be happier with it.
Probably the best mod for the buck because it lets you sleep well at night!
