3-36 warranty almost sounds like it’s from Roush and backed by Roush as a power pack. New model as the Ranger still is, I’m surprised they are pushing a retune so fast.

True they never offered any tune for the Raptor and there’s plenty more power to be made.

Ford cannot do a Tune for the Jenny to increase HP and TQ, they didn't do it for the Gen 1 either.
It would be in conflict (increase smog) with the CAFE numbers they need to hold.

Good Point . .. even the recommended oil for vehicles is dictated by CAFE standards,
because outside the USA, the recommendation changes.

That’s right so true. They left so much power on the table, only really because the smog numbers.

So how the hell is FCA getting away with pumping out all those Hemi’s, N/A and Supercharged and keeping it in smog spec?

I actually emailed Ford Performance about this right after I bought my Raptor.

CAFE has nothing to do with it. CAFE only applies to the general fleet, the tune in that article is the Ford Performance tune, available separate. (Although often installed at the dealer, like the Roush for the Raptor)

I had FRPP tunes on my Focus St, and PP2 (CAI and Tune) on my 15 Mustang GT.

FRPP tunes are fantastic (IMHO) because they usually bump the torque a lot under the curve, where you use it most, and most importantly they are safe, and CARB legal.

When I emailed FRPP less than 2 weeks ago, they told me NO Raptor tune. They could not safely find the type of HP and emissions to gain CARB exemption that would make it worth it. (Their words not mine)

What about JDM
Have never had one so can’t speak to the quality. However IMHO, if Ford Performance says the gains from a safe and CARB legal tune are not cost viable, I’ll pass.

What that says to me, the other tunes may be perfectly fine, be they don’t meet Ford’s high standards. (Safe and CARB legal)

Like I said I’m my previous post I’m a FRPP fan boy, no tune from them, no tune for me.

I’m sure some of the tuned guys can chime in with their experience with 3rd party tuners.
