Hi All,

In the process of purchasing my 2nd raptor its a 2017 with 25000 Miles (40k KMS Canada). Powertrain expires this year August 2022.
I didn't have my last 2nd Raptor (also a 2017) very long (less then 10k). I have read and heard of cam phaser issues etc. (All recalls on this truck and cam phaser have been completed).

I am somewhat mechanically inclined, however would not mess with a major engine/transmission issue.
Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts if its worth it based on past issues and experience?
Warranty would start from the date of purchase ( I drive under 10k a year now)

Below is the pricing I have been offered from the ford dealer I am purchasing it from ( If I do move forward thinking of going with the 4 years or 40,000KMS option). Thoughts?
Prices in Canadian:

3 YR 60,000 kms - $3995 (3100 USD)
4 YR 40,000 kms - $3895 (3000 USD)
4 YR 60,000 kms - $4395
4 YR 80,000 kms - $5495
5 YR 100,000 kms - $5995

I paid $2800 for a 7 year 125K mile warranty from Flood Fords website. Since you are north of the border, I'm assuming you can't take advantage of their pricing?

You have to have a US address so some Canadians use a relative's place. The plan is tied to your VIN and it's the same one. Not saying it's the greatest idea, but Flood apparently has no problem selling them in this manner.

I've been considering an extended warranty as well. I just bought a 2017 with 70k odd miles. I'm considering a ESP from Zeigler Ford, they're the only option I've found that's willing to sell an extended powertrain warranty based on my mileage. They will only insure you via the warranty contingent upon an inspection.

I just ordered a oil analysis and transmission fluid analysis kit from blackstone as well. I figure if the oil/trans fluid analysis come back clean then the warranty will be harder to justify. Whereas if the analysis come back with some sort of red flags, I'll most definitely be buying the extended powertrain warranty.

If I were you I'd ask your dealer if they can match Flood/Zeigler's prices. I'd also ask what their warranty covers, and if mods will void it. Those are the questions I plan to ask Zeigler in the next few weeks.

For the record, I had full faith in the Ecoboost up until a few weeks ago when I started reading the horror stories about blown motors or trans costing 10-14$k. Still have faith, but the extra peace of mind won't hurt anything but the pocket book.

^ Direct from Zeiglers Website - 60 mo, 48k miles, for 1365$, purely powertrain Trans/Engine coverage.

I bought the 8 year 60000 mile premium plan from Flood ford on my Gen 3. Well worth the 1 grand if something major happens.
