Or because the 5.0 is a garbage motor, plagued with problems, that Ford refuses to admit, so they'll just "slow down production" instead.

My first 5.0 survived close to 600 whp at around 10 lbs of boost. Not sure I'd call that garbage... The Coyote is the best NA V8 Ford has ever built. There were a few ticking issues (that doesn't really cause any real trouble). And there were some issues in 2011 when tuners couldn't figure out how to tune them and blew a few up. Aside from that, just normal mass produced hiccups. Guys bitch about gen 3 having issues with the PTWA, but it's all internet garbage. I'd take a Coyote over any other NA V8 out there. The Voodoo is cool and all, but not as stout as the cross plane Coyote.

Huh? It’s not any more problematic compared to the ecoboost. Some don’t have problems, some do. But that’s all manufacturers. If your opinion is based on what you see online in the forums, there’s a big world out there with plenty of problem free trucks.

The Road Runner engine in the Boss 302 was probably the best most reliable Coyote engine.

A garbage motor? shouldn't throw stones from your glass house, especially when you have an ecoboost.

Look up Cylinder Wall Scoring, or BBQ Tick on the Coyote Motor and educate yourself. Ford and Dealers say it's 100% Normal and send you out the door.

I was in the market to buy a new PP2 Mustang, so I'm not bashing just because I'm bored.

And yes, I have an Ecoboost because you can't get any other motor in a Raptor, .

Agree with this. Ford has a monster problem building engines lately. The oval cylinders were a problem on the coyote originally, and now it is back again. Definitely wise not to have a 17+ coyote because it will fail once the oil passing ramps up. I can't wait to see the 5.2sc... I think that block is made somewhere else, so maybe the cylinder bores will be ok.

5.0L is a compromised design. It's still 100% a 4.6L engine at heart, pushed past it's original design limits to get to the 5.0L (or 5.2L even) displacement. I think Ford did a decent job with it and it's pretty reliable overall. It's not a clean sheet design like the 6.2L was.
