Regular ecoboost engines require plug changes every 30k miles. This is another idiosyncrasy of the ecoboost and seems unacceptable in the age where every other vehicle offered has a plug life of 100k miles.

I changed the plugs today. Using a scale of 1-10 1 being the easiest I would rate a 3, only because the height of the truck and having to utilized a step and reach over (I’m 5’10”). The old plugs all looked the same for each cylinder, they still had a lot of life left, thinking they would be good for about 50,000mi total. No carbon or oil build up and they do not appear to be running hot or cold. The threads were dark brown half way from the tip as if blow-by only gets half way. The old plugs are the same Ford part number as indicated on the new ones (Ford CYS-12-YPCT). However the Motorcraft packaging for the new shows SP-550. I check the gaps on old ones as I removed them, they were at 028 – 030. I really expected a larger gap on them since the manual says to gap them at 030-035. I left the new one at .028.

BTW, also checked the MAP sensor on manifold and it was oily. I put in a catch can at about 5000mi, maybe it built up before. The cold side PCV pipe from engine to driver turbo is very oily. No cold side catch can yet for this side. I read in the Mustang forum that every attempt to add a catch can to the cold side results in an engine code.
