Flat towing a 2017?

Hey everyone,
I've a question about the '17s which I cannot find an answer to inline or via Ford. All new 4x4 F150s may be flat towed -- that is, pulled behind an RV or other tow vehicle - with all 4 wheels flat on the ground, but putting the transfer case and transmission in N. However, it is possible that the Raptor is an exception to this rule because it has a different transfer case and diff than regular F150s. The Raptor owners manual supplement is not available online for me to check.

Does anyone have the definitive answer?

Why would it not be able to be pulled in Neutral? If you are worried, I would contact Ford & ask them.

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you put the T-case in neutral on the Raptor?

Easy enough on my TJ, but the Raptor?

The gen-1's could not be flat towed; something about their transfer case and diffs using clutches rather than a mechanical disconnect. I did try contacting Ford already, and at least through the avenues available to me (their helpline), they do not know :/

You can tow a gen 1 on four wheels. Special procedure has to be followed, more than just putting trans case in neutral. It's in the owners manual.

I found the definitive answer (YES) in the Raptor supplement to the F150 owners' manual. Many thanks to James Ford of Half Moon Bay for getting me the answer:

Follow these guidelines if you have a need
for recreational towing, such as towing
your vehicle behind a motorhome. We
designed these guidelines to prevent
damage to your transmission.

Your Ford Performance vehicle can be put
in neutral tow (Recreational Towing Mode)
by placing the transfer case in its neutral
position and engaging the
four-wheel-down towing feature. Perform
the steps outlined in the following section
after positioning your vehicle behind the
tow vehicle and properly securing them
together.

Note: Make sure you properly secure your

vehicle to the tow vehicle.

1. Put the ignition in the on position, but

do not start the engine. If your vehicle

has an ignition key, turn the key to on.

If your vehicle has intelligent access,

press the engine START/STOP button

once without pressing the brake pedal.

2. Press and hold the brake pedal.

3. Rotate the four-wheel drive switch to

2H.

4. Shift the transmission to position N.

5. Enable Neutral Tow through the

information display by selecting

Settings from the cluster menu.

6. Then select Advanced Settings.

7. Then select Vehicle.

8. Then select Neutral Tow.

Note: If completed successfully, the

information display shows NEUTRAL TOW

LEAVE IN N or NEUTRAL TOW ENABLED

LEAVE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL.

This indicates that your vehicle is safe to

tow with all wheels on the ground.

Note: If you do not see the message in the

display, you must perform the procedure

again from the beginning.
