Don't understand your post? Your saying the truck didn't tow well? I tow a 8000 lb trailer about 3,000 more then that setup with no issues

It seamed to lack the power needed to get this setup through the Texas hill country. Just saying I was expecting more. I'm thinking it may pull better with the engine of the trac over the wheels as it does have a 5 liter swap. This trailer does not have brakes either so there was the other issue with slowing it all down. I just need to get a diesel tow rig.

Are you expecting it to literally drive like nothing is back there? That's not a lot of weight. I've towed a 4500 pound wakeboard boat with mine and it did surprisingly well, plenty of power.

It's none of my business, but if you are new to towing, it isn't safe towing that setup without trailer brakes. In Illinois it would be illegal. I'm not sure about Texas laws?

According to 2014 Ford F-150 | View Towing Specifications | Ford.com your Supercrew has a towing capacity of 8000 pounds. You're probably about 2,000 pounds shy of that, so you're towing about 75% of the max towing capacity. The curb weigh of a Supercrew is 6203 pounds, so you've doubled the load on the engine (sort of) - your truck weighs 3 tons and you're towing 3 tons. Given that, some evidence of the load is to be expected.

I towed the biggest tandum axel U-Haul trailer from north Alabama to northern Nevada earlier this year, and that trailer was way overloaded. U-Haul wouldn't have let me rent the thing and sure wouldn't have insured it if they had known what I had in it. I was alarmed at the fuel economy, but the truck pulled the load without complaint through the Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada hill country. It's a very capable machine, and I honestly believe it to be the most capable vehicle to ever come off a factory production line.

here, on frf
it might have been better to back it on the trailer? i think it would help with the weight distribution. since the bulk of the weight (motor) is between the wheels of the trailer and the wheels of the truck. think it might handle better?
