As long as you're using a random orbital and not a rotary, you don't even have to worry about burning your paint. Also, @AdamsPolishes correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Adam's uses diminishing abrasives in their polishes as well.

That is correct @Nick@Apollo-Optics, both the Paint Correcting Polish and the Paint Finishing Polish are Diminishing Abrasive Technology (DAT), which means the abrasives in the polish break down as they are worked against the paint.

This tends to make them safer to use for beginners because you can tell when the product is done, as it will flash (look like vaseline). In short, it helps prevent overworking an area and striking through the clear coat.

While a polisher like the Cyclo is pretty safe for beginners, there is still some technique to learn and use, so that you get the best results. The videos on polishing are a great way learn the basic techniques to safe and effective machine polishing.

Can you explain the difference, if any, between the red and yellow wedges?

Basically, just the color. Its the same foam as the red glazing pads.

I was kidding when I said it cleaned better. The red just goes better with my truck than the yellow did. I actually still use the yellow one for the lower areas, rockers and bumpers, and then the red one for the upper areas that are not as dirty.

Thanks, Dan. I know that Adam's is slowly in the process of color coordinating their products, so I wasn't sure if this was due to coordination or a change in material.

Yep, just to make it red so it is unique to Adam's Polishes.

There has been some color coordinating of newer products, like the new shampoo is blue to go with the other blue cleaning products like Rinseless Wash and Waterless Wash. Then, the new H20 Guard & Gloss is gray to go with the Liquid Paint Sealant.

As you know (but others may not), the polishes, sealants and waxes are color matched to the applicator that you use with them (other than a few exceptions for products that are not colored, like Brilliant Glaze). This makes it easy to remember what applicator or pad goes with each product.

With the polishes, the coordinating foam pads have different levels of cut. For the sealants and waxes, the applicators are all ultra-fine foam (no cut) to give you the best finish, but the color helps so you don't cross-contaminate an applicator (like using an applicator for wax, and then next time using it for sealant). Even though the applicators get cleaned, it is best to dedicate an applicator to one specific product.
