Sage, I notice on their site that there are numerous solutions. Would you mind telling me which kit you purchased?

I got the Firestone bags listed as for a Raptor.

I think the springs would be a better choice if you don't tow a lot or tow varying wt loads like I do. I almost went with springs but I tow probably 30++% of the time. Trailer loads of 2000-6000+ lbs. Also a heavy boat in the summer. The only really heavy tung load is the crawler as I have to move it way forward on the trailer to eliminate overhang on the back.

Sorry, I bought them over a year ago and don't remeber the exact model number or the cost and I'm to lazy to go back through files to find it. It sat on the shelf for 9 months before I actually needed it and installed it.

Did the bags bend the frame at the mounting points? The bag lines up with the weak spot

maybe in extreme offroading, but for regular towing they really shouldn't. These are still the same frames that all the other f150's have that have 11,300 lb tow ratings. The bending comes from hitting kickers that exceed the suspension travel at excessively high speed. Towing on paved highway and at most hitting a pothole or two, and having the bags to assist even further from bottoming out on the frame, should not be enough to cause a bent frame.

These trucks have a bad stereotype for that, but you really need to look into what causes the frame to bend. Just because it's the location they bend it, doesn't mean it will automatically bend in a completely different application that doesn't have anywhere near as violent of a force on it.

Here is my 2013. I have had the Firestone airbags since Jan 2016. So far no problems and works great for towing our Jeep.









Also put a Leer shell on a couple of months ago.
