HAhahaaaa.
Hey All,
I finally got the SCREW down to my land in east Texas this weekend. After completing the chores, cutting down a few trees destin to fall on my cabin I went for a few laps on the farm next door.
I access my land through a neighbors farm. Its 80 feet elevation change over about 125 yards from the top of the hill to the bottom where my land starts. In the past in all my trucks I have always just put it in 4 low and eased down the hill between the trees in a slolom so there won't be any erosion problems when it rains. A curtious neighbor I be. HAhahaaaa. So as usual we decended in this manor. Later on another decent I tried the auto decent thingy. After about 2 seconds of all hell breaking loose with the antilock brake sounds it just eased on down. Cool!
So now its time for some fun, I first tried to get some air cresting over the top of the hill from the bottom up. I did about 30 mph and held on, and HULK? Hell no! Didn't feel any different than pulling into the drive way at home. SHIT! So I decended the hill at about 30 mph which was a breeze and did a 180 and hit it about 40 mph. HULK? Shit NO! WTF? The WTF was I barley got stopped before plowing the barbed wire fence which is only about 30 yards on the other side of the hill! HAHahaaaaaa. So no HULK this trip. SHIT!
So now its time for a few speed runs along the fence line. We dive down the hill, we being me and a buddy Jeff. I take off and head down doing about 45 or 50 mph sloloming past the live oaks and hickory trees, right past the spot where I flipped an old BIG RED 3 wheeler 6 years ago and broke ribs and did mucho damage to this old fat bastard. We are heading right at my closed gate and I hear Jeff give a little grunt like a mini oh shit. I fling the SCREW into a hard right power slide through the dry and soft east Texas sandy soil and the SCREW just bites and turns like I am on a city street! As the ass end comes around and I can feel the stability shit trying to drive for me. I was not in off road mode. It was no big deal but I was aware that it was doing its thing.
I kept it in 2nd till we hit about 55 and shifted to 3rd and headed for the old shit house deer blind along the fence line which has an old big ass post oak tree about 8 feet away from it on the pasture side. I hear Jeff make that little errr sound again and I say, its not a big deal Jeff, its like shooting the toll booth at 70! HAhahaaaaaa. Zoom right between them and then I see this old low sunken area on the right track of the trail I am on from an old downed tree from years back. Oh SHIT! Balomp, went right over it and didn't hardly notice it! COOL! I then see the other 3 guys that had come down to the cabin to help out downing a dead tree for the neighbor so I just had to do a speed run around them! HAhahaaaaaaaa. Flung it around 180 doing probably 40 or so and as I turned back towards where I had come from all I can see is this plum of sand and dust I had just left from the fence line run. HAHhaaaaaa. So I slowed and waited for it to clear. I looked back at the guys and they were all running for clean air! AHhahaaaaaaa. OOOOPS! AHhahaaaaaaa.
So I made a few more runs up and down and around and back into the woods for an afternoon of shooting guns and drinking a few beers and having some great food on the fire. Jeff was amazed with the ride and so was Pete another of the crew who braved a ride. I did not get the SCREW down on the back side of the land in the creeks because we have not run a brush hog down the roads and there is a high fire danger its been so dry. I will get it down there next time. These trucks are amazing for sure!
The frmer / Dentist next door came by for a few rounds of 762 x 39 and he said, WHAT THE HELL was going on down here. It sounded like a dirt track race with fire woorks after the finish! HAHahaaaaaaaaa. He was impressed with the SCREW and was pissed I didn't offer up my 04' FX4 to him before trading it in. He would not ride with me in the SCREW and left just happy as a clam in his old 1982 F 150 with 300,000 rattle trap miles on it.
It was a great weekend. Got the SCREW dirty, cut some trees down and made a pile of wood for next year, ate and drank a shit load of beer and shot thousands of rounds with my friends at everthing from peanuts to targets to old freon cans. It was a MANLY weekend for sure. Oh I almost forgot, we started the place on fire after all. Had the fire pit burning in for dinner, we were all sittin in chairs shootin into the evenin and Jeff looked back and said, FIRE! We said what the hell ya think we have been doing for the last 2 hours? NO FIRE! We looked back and had a nice 30 foot circle of fire burning away from the pit! HAhahaaaa. SHIT! We all became fireman for aboput 10 minutes and went back to shooting. So we saved the cabin from the trees but nearly burnt it down! HAhahaaaaaaaaa. SHIT! Almost a TAILS OF THE *******! HAhahaaaaaaaaa.
