Experiences with ceramic tinted windshields?

Ask the shop if they have it on their windshield or one at the shop for you to look through. It should help with your decision.

I used one shop and I could see the film. I originally did a clear ceramic (bluish tint) film and I could see the film and it gave me a headache every time I drove during the day. I took it back and he replaced it with their lightest ceramic tint and it was better, but I could still see the film. I thought it may have been just me, but a friend took his car there a couple years later and it's the same thing. You can see the film when looking at the glass.

I went to a new shop last year and he uses a different film. I did a 70% on my windshield and it was perfect. You couldn't see the film and everything was crystal clear.

I have ceramic on mine, I think it is Llumar, and I love it. Cleans up fine and not only helps with the heat, but cuts the glare down, I don't need sunglasses except on exceptionally bright days. If you are going to put a decal (like park pass or something which sticks to the inside of the windshield) Amazon sells a film that you can cut and stick your sticker on and then it sticks to the windshield by static. So it is easy to remove.

You really don't need to stick toll tags on your windshield. They work just fine sitting in the middle bin on the dash. I haven't really tested it out yet since I haven't been on a toll in a while, but I have mine placed under the mat in the center bin.

I’ve got 80% ceramic on my windshield and my ez pass is mounted to the forward side of rear view mirror ( see picture) and reads just fine through the tint. Sometimes get rainbow effect with polarized sun glasses but not enough to be a concern. Well worth it, cuts way down on heat in cab after sitting all day in the sun.

Only complaint is with Polarized sunglasses and rainbow effect. I have Llumar on windshield and sunroof. Was stopped at LAX once a couple years ago saying they could not see in and no film of any sort is to go on a windshield. Was an anomaly but caught me off guard.

I have the 3M CR60 on the front and CR40 on the sides and back. No issues and a lot cooler inside (FL). I would like it on the sun panel but it has been recommended not to add it as it rejects the heat into the glass it may cause the glass to shatter. The sun panel is not made of the same strength of glass material.

I'm looking at the Xpel Prime XR window tint 80% for the windshield, which is the lightest they have. I never had a windshield done before. I'm looking more for heat/UV rejection than the look. I was wondering what your experience has been with it, especially as far as optical clarity and cleaning. Thanks.

I have 50% on my windshield and I love it. Doesn’t affect my vision at all after a couple days once it dries and bubbles go away. It is illegal though so I roll my windows down when there are cops around to brighten it up a little. They wouldn’t do 70% because it was too flimsy they said. But I have no regrets so far. Definitely helps with the eyes as well. Now when people stare at the truck I definitely know it’s the truck and not me since they can’t see me.

I see the rainbows with my polarized sunglasses on the sides, so I decided not to do it on my windshield. I thought it would be too distracting when driving long distances.

You're not doing acid while you drive, are you?? I'm glad you mentioned that, I wear polarized glasses all the time. I'll have to check and see if I notice anything. I know at times you see really odd things with the polarized lenses.

My psychedelic days are long gone. LOL

Looking out the side class is only slightly annoying at certain times, but I did not want to take the chance with the whole windshield.
