First a little backstory to preface this thread. The truck was stock with a ProCharger/upgraded torque converter and made 450whp for a while. I wound up jumping the truck, shredded a belt and was disgusted with how difficult a serpentine belt change was. Either the blower bracket bolts had to be removed, or the head unit. I also wanted more power.

So, I purchased a Gen 4 Whipple, Stainless Power headers and catless Y, Boundary Billet OPG, and an ATI 12% OD balancer. The truck made over 600whp at this point and felt great for a while.

I took it out to make a 1/4 mile pull with my Dragy. Somewhere around the 1/8th mile the bottom end let loose. It was a spectacular explosion. Brief flames and heavy smoke. I got it pulled over and jumped out with my fire extinguisher. Thankfully it wasn't on fire anymore. Here is the data I was able to get though.

Anyway, I haven't even tried to see where the hole is, but I will try to stick my camera in there for some carnage shots. The ENTIRE underside is covered in oil haha. Crazy. Pics to come shortly.

So it looks like I have at least two holes in the block and one in the oil pan. Note the oil all over the back of the truck. So now I am in the planning stage of a new build. My tuner and shop didn't mention I was running out of fuel, but I suspect It may have gone lean. I am going to have them upgrade the fuel system and inquire about E-85. I'm only really interested in that if it's flex fuel though. I also ordered some brand new heads to send off to get ported. Still figuring out what I want to do for a short block. Anyway, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Dude that's spectacular. Sounds like you're a real man and didn't even cry, right off to get her rebuilt. Have you thought about a built motor from Livernois or you could order a motor from ford. Jdm has a pretty good tune that lots on here swear by too. Thanks for sharing.

No tears shed. I knew I was pushing things pretty far past what's recommended. I am for sure going with a built bottom end. No stock stuff going back in. Right now it looks like my better choices are MMR and Livernois but I'm open to suggestions. I would prefer a company that is relatively familiar with this motor and has the torque plates to hone it correctly.

I know the feeling.

My lightning went down at the track 10 years ago. 18lb of boost a 50 shot and a hi low pump relay that stopped working = 8 destroyed rods, 7 bent pistons and cracks/holes all over the block.

IMO Livernois is the best option, but probably up there in price.

I remember my days of street oriented performance the motto was: FAST, CHEAP, RELIABLE, can only pick two.

MMR from a 4.6/5.4 standpoint weren't bad. I think they had some complaints on CS and a few engine build issues, but those complaints were from years ago. Not sure how they are with the 6.2

^^Man, the only thing worse than letting loose on the street is letting loose on the track. You feel bad for yourself AND everybody else.

I blew up a stock motor on my 99 Lightning. Very similar swiss cheese results. Someone called the fire truck for that one. I was racing a duramax, and he towed me home haha

Hi @Blacktor,

Look into L & M Engines: https://www.lmengines.com/

They're the company that engineered and worked with Triangle Speed Shop to manufacture the upgraded billet oil pump gears.

They also built the the most powerful 6.2L to date:
https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/custom-built-super-charged-raptor.32584/

This is an impressive build!!!
Below is an old post with old pictures, but since then he upgraded things and ran racing fuel he is getting over 1,300 HP on the dyno

He did a track run with 37" tires, stock gears and only had 4 ribs left on the belt running a Gen 2 compressor and two wheel launch with a lot of wheel spin.

And he still got an unbelievable time:

I'm only at 561 rwhp with full stock exhaust, I'm glad that I upgraded my fuel pump.
While Whipple's Ford Engineer Calibrator said the stock pump would be sufficient at my power level,
he was more comfortable raising the HP on my stock engine with just the oil pump and fuel pump upgrades I did.
Plus I was planning on upgrading in the future.

This is super helpful for me. Thank you for linking this thread. I will do some research on L&M. I had my Lightning rebuilt at Triangle and I think they may have done my 5.4. 10.9 is incredible. I'm just trying to stay relevant with the TRX coming out. Haha

LOL, I hear ya, it's a sick build and tooooo much $$$ for my blood.

P.S. don't show this to the Gen 2 guys, I wouldn't want them to get an inferiority complex. LOL
