Very strange today.

I went on a gravel road to test the 4WD to prepare for Snoball. It wasn't very long and I was just in 4WD HI. No off-road mode or locked or TC off, just turned the dial to 4WD. Ran fine, in and out 4WD and 2WD without any issues. I went up a steep hill that I was not intending to go up, just wanted to make sure 4WD was working and to ensure the front wheels were grabbing. I didn't get too far (maybe 15 feet) up and started to slip, gave it a tad more gas to get up further and I could hear the front tires grabbing the ground (a little rocky), I barely started to back down the hill and the brakes were hard and the low oil warning came on. As I am backing down the hill noticed that the steering was stiff. I realize that the engine died. WTF?

It started right back up when putting it into park. I tried the hill again doing about the same thing, no issues.

Strange?

I am going in tomorrow for an oil change and tire rotation and wondering if I should mention anything?

EDIT: The only thing that I did today other than take it to a clients all day was about 30 minutes before, I changed my tune back to stock because of the dealer visit tomorrow but don't think that had anything to do with it.

If you had it back at stock and had not driven it for a length of time after you flashed back to stock I am thinking the stall could be from the ECU still learning. Possible when you were off the gas it stalled from still learning its idle settings.

This has happened before to a few people, including myself, also while going up a hill. I don't recall anything ever coming of it.

Well I do admit that I went through a river crossing about three times before going up the hill. Its a concrete road through the river and was only about 15" deep, no mud hole but did splash up higher than my hood on the sides. :)

This has happened to me a few times as well. Usually shortly after loading a new tune. Always starts right back up after I shut down.

Lol.

As long as oil pressure is good, level is good, and no other issues then it should be fine.

Well perhaps changing the tune to stock was the issue all along. Thanks!

When you say "Hill", do you mean normal little hill, or steep incline, unable to climb, like this is scary type hill? Maybe "low oil" light came on because oil got momentarily shifted away from a sensor and engine thinks it's being smart shutting down... just a thought. These trucks are like women anyway... they tend to do dumb shit for what they think are logical reasons.

It happens when you change the tune. It has happened to me several times. I wanted to try all the top tuners on the forum to see the differences. Each and every time I changed the tune, within 100 miles or so, this exact same thing would occur that you experienced. Good thing is after it occurred once with the flashed tuned, it doesn't happen again until I reflash with a different tune.

Bad thing is, you never know when your truck is going to shut off. It happened to me 3 different times while driving in traffic ( I DAMN NEAR POOPED MY PANTS ONCE).

I am happy to say I have 2 tunes that I absolutely love now and rarely do any switching any more between tunes.
