no, engine off for the whole thing. if its on, its warm, you hit it with cold water, that can cause issues.

best to have the engine off, and cover any areas you dont want water to hit. plastic bags work great.

I've never had issues with the degreaser and powerwash at the car wash.

Hence why I said 5 minutes is about perfect, then rinse off

Also, scrub brush can be helpful for dirt buildup. Very helpful lol
